An army list for taking out daemon hunters army (with possible allies ablity). Please help since im being thrashed by this guy far to often. please help me cause a wont to surprise him and thrash him instead thanks.
It might help if you posted your usual list and your opponent's normal list.
Really, I'd think that if you kit out for marines, you'd be fine against DH. One warning: for fun I played a game against a WH army with the Grand Master as an ally. I brought the Deceiver and we went toe to toe at the end. In that battle, both models should die: the GM to instakill and and the Deceiver to the Nemesis Force Weapon. He failed his psychic test and the Deceiver lived, but he shouldn't have. That's not a good trade. Otherwise, the Deceiver was hell on his expensive Termies.
Because he'll often have small numbers, I'd bring some Heavy Destroyers along with a bunch of regular Destroyers and a unit of 10 Immortals with a Lord, Orb and Veil. Their mobility, firepower, and toughness should make them effective and help keep you out of assault. They're also great for rushing on objectives at the end of the game. He won't have a ton of mobility to counter your moves, assuming he hasn't phased you out in assault.
Now the strongest army i've fought has been Mostly witch hunters and 2grey knight troops and the grandmasters temries. And he outnumbers most armies i know just from the 4 troop choices. But yeah. Hard army. I'm sure he bends rules at times. But his list is still just so hard it practicaly wins without him moving...
thanks for the replies but also does anyone have any idea for a combat patrol game to beat daemon hunters? Thx
1 word for you... Firepower. Bring it en masse. even though though they are equipped with 1 armed storm bolters, grey knights in general are designed for combat, with ws5. so, stand and shoot/veil of time, you should do better. Destroyers, immortas are good as well.

Monolith, and take 2 or even 3 of them.
One of the Grey Knight's weakness is lack of anti tank, and Monolith is THE most powerful tank in all 40k Codex. With its ap2 large blast and being a 14 armour skimmer. You can literially finish off his whole army with those alone. Get lots of necorn warrior for number and remember to pull them out with monolith if they got into close combat.... With 2 monoliths, and a Necorn Lord with a orb, and rest warriors will provide an amy that can out number and out gun most Daemonhunter army.
The Ordinance on the Monolith is AP3. Thats not why you take it against the DH army though... take it to pull your troops out of CC.
I would suggest taking 2 Liths at least. I normally run with 2 myself and find its adequate enough for what I need them for. This is for 1500 point games... yes people will hate it but its valid and they help, alot.
I would suggest not taking Heavy Destroyers. Take a full squad of 5 Destroyers though for sure. 15 shots versus 3... Sure they don't have the AP but thats still... alot of saves and you should be able to kill any vehicle with them as you need to.
Against Space Marine armies I go with a very simple setup.
Monoliths - 2
Warriors - 30
Destroyers - 5
Lord with Res Orb
Its a little less than 1500 points. Keep your tactics simple... stay in your phalanx and use your Monoliths to pull your warriors out of CC. Focus on your greatest strength... sustain sustain sustain. You can out last him.
Thanks for the replies, although a squad of grey knight terminator plus force weapon...That could hurt you monolith, atleast i think it would.
see my lighting a monolith project..
The only thing that I am really afraid in DH army are Termies - they are SUPER expensive but also hard to take down for Crons. The other thing (OK, so there are two things that I am afraid of) are the Psy-Cannons/Bolts that negate Inv save on Wraiths and turbo-boosting bikes...

" The Ordinance on the Monolith is AP3"
And it's AP1 under the hole unless i'm mistaken
"DH army outnumbering anyone? Never seen such a thing "
It's cause he has 4 troops, 2 for each army. He has such a well rounded list too... Excorcist missle launcher x2 and 2 transports with flamers/meltas depending on his opponent. Melta for us...
He takes that grand master with 6-8 termies and it's hails of death...
