Should Powerfists(and their variants) work against the Monolith?
Last edited by chosen40k; September 13th, 2007 at 01:10.
When life gives you anything, charge it with Genestealers.
Alarm clock? Genestealers.
Your boss? Genestealers.
The rednecks that cut in front of me at Wal-mart like I didn't have anything better to do than stand in line? Genestealers.
Powerfists should, since the living metal rule doesn't stop strength changes, just extra dice if I remember correctly. Chainfists won't work beyond doubling the strength of it's user though.

Hi Chosen. This question is fueled with loads of debate. Here is a thread were people make lots of good arguements both for and against the powerfist's effectiveness against a monolith.

The phrase you are probably looking for is "unaugmented strength." Pg. 21 of the Necron Codex. The Living Metal rule. To me this means the powerfist does not double strength, when fighting the monolith.
So, no, it doesn't. I think you should try and field lascannons. They are effective against it, provided the dice gods aren't feeling angsty.
Another thing to consider is talking it over with the Necron player. He might say no, and if you still disagree, roll it off. Or take the time after the game is over to formulate a house rule.

I have to agree with DoubleBlind- there are two schools of thought on the situation, I myself thinking that Powerfists are fine, whereas a Chainfist would get the Strength bonus but no extra Chopping bonus.
here is the LO Necron FAQ with the neccessary info- http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...ad.php?t=94111 (The Frequently Asked Questions about 40K Necrons.)
As DoubleBlind said, it's just one of those things to bring up and talk about before models go onto the table

Everything you have been told is a lie!
not trying to back seat mod (but i will)
this should so be added to the list of topics that can't be talked about on the forums, along with politics and pr0n....
Dear Game Developer,Caps-Lock, its like cruise-control for AWESOMENESS!
Rock is cheese, Paper is just fine
WWP and other Dark Eldar how to
splata, freedom of speach thing, a lot of people seem to post polls and posts along the "what if..." or wich list type, I dont enjoy them myself, I dont feel it gives any value what so ever to the forums and they do tend to be younger posters. However they are discussing the game in the context that it effect them and provided they post in the right forums, they are at liberty to do so mate,
the banned subjects are banned for a couple reasons:
1. they are not related to the game,
2. they are highly emotive and likely to cause issues
hence again, provided they are posted in the correct forum, there is no real issue with this type of post
Everything you have been told is a lie!
I think that a universal rule which would say something like: "penetration rolls can be made with basic strength of the weapon/model and a single D6 only, without any additional modifiers" is what you are talking about? I think that this is close to what GW wanted to achieve with the "living metal" idea. I can actually see this as a change in the next codex...
*screams in horror* ARG! NOT AGAIN! I can't LIVE like this!
This has been talked about, way, way too many times...
For Katies sanity, refer to the LO Necron FAQ with the neccessary info- http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...ad.php?t=94111 ~ jonesie
