Welcome to Librarium Online!
I have always been a fan of bodies on the ground, as such I've decided even though mechanized Eldar seems like a good idea (and sweet), I'd rather go for footsloggers like my other armies(Dark angels and Tsons). But I have a dilemna, the Eldar are much more fragile than my two other groups and while they have more numbers as a partial solution it only helps so much.
I was wondering what the best units to take would be, I've settle on trying to stick with one half of the force being 'fleet' and infiltrating while the other two quarters of points will be spent on a few big guns (Reapers and Pathfinders) and some non-fleet (2 Wraithlords)... Other than those and my heroes I only have ideas (and 6 Striking Scorpions and 10 Dire Avengers) to work with so feel free to suggest ANYTHING. This is for a 2000pt and 1850pt list(s).
Edit:By the way, I've only played 500pt combat patrols up to now as Eldar and one 750pt game, tips for larger games as Eldar would be good too.

same here, first of all, footslogging eldar on a low terrain table is suicide dont think ur gonna win on a low terrain table. for a footslogging list, an avatar is a must, no need for morale checks is priceless since your troops arent protected. lots of dire avengers are in my opinion very very good, in a pure footslogging list i'd take at the bare minimum 30 and up to 50+. when they get in range 100+ shot and with added bladestorm will kill a lot of stuff by a lot i mean 30 space marines.
Counterchargers are a must. if the enemy's fast assult troop get your avengers a unit of scorpions or harleys will save u the game (im serious)
Also in a footslogging list i think having mobile elements is good for you, warp spiders, vypers and of course falcons, they're good for capturing objectives, softening up a unit before ur scorpions clean them up, if deep striking battlesuits try to foil ur plans u have some form of defence. they'll come in handy.
pathfinders are really specialised troops, only effective against units with a 2+ save or mc's, i used to take them because they looked good but they wont make back their points cost (they wont be dying anytime soon either). post more later...
Signed Sealed Saint
Fortius Quo Fidelius
10 Harlequins /w 5 kisses
-Shadowseer /w kiss
10 Dire Avengers
-Exarch /w 2 catapults, bladestorm
10 Dire Avengers
-Exarch /w power weapon, shimmershield, bladestorm, defend
10 Guardians /w shurikannon platform
Warlock /w singing spear, conceal
Thats a fairly standard foot-sloggers setup. Eldrad can be replaced with a fortune/doom farseer if you don't like the unfluffiness of him outside Ulthwe.
Basically the guardians and shimmershield line up along the front of the group. The harlequins just behind with the avatar mingling amongst them. Behind them come the other dire avengers. Eldrad sits just behind the avatar. Eldrad fortunes the avatar, dooms an enemy and then does whatever you deem best with the 3rd power, usually fortune the harlequins. I'm not sure if he can double-mind war someone. There was that controversy about it when the new chaos codex says you can't use 2 shooty powers in the same turn.
Anyway, adding on to the block tends to be something like warp spiders to provide some support and then some heavies. Wraithlords work well with the avatar although war walkers and reapers can be nasty too.
Some fire dragons in a wave serpent (or wraithguard) and a falcon can give you some kind of vehicle prowess.
You can also toss more avengers into the mix if you don't want that vehicle route. That turns you into a kind of elite horde, fun to play but is scared of heavy bolters.
But yes as tookool said harlequins are pretty much essential for this block (although fortuned scorpions can work). The harlequins with a fortuned avatar mean you will dominate cc and can spend the rest of your points on avengers or big guns.
