Poison against everything non-SM/CSM/Necron. Useful against high-T Chaos and Necron models, though. Also, against open-topped vehicles.

Bio-Acid against vehicles. Can damage SM/CSM/Necron troops as well, but random and rather weak.

Frag... Against troop-heavy IG, Guardian-heavy Eldar.

If I had to choose spore mines for a tourney, I'd choose Poison and Bio-Acid.

Also, can they take out my tyranids as well? or do they just move next to them (so i can fire and move around without being hit by them) It only says enemies in the codex.

Do the frag spores affect armoured vehicles as well? I would assume no, because the poison mines affect open toppers, and bio-acid mines affect all armour 2D6 + 3

Your own troops will not detonate a spore mine by moving or shooting close to it.

However, if the enemy shoots and destroys a Spore mine so that it detonates near Your Tyranids, they will take damage from the blast.

Frag mine against a vehicle is the usual S + D6. Thus Frag mines can affect vehicles, but have a very slim chance of doing so, and usually only against the rear armour.

Also with Bio-Acid spore mines, after they are placed on the board, do you just roll a directional dice and it hits whatever, or do you move it the 2D6" indicated and if it hits then use the template?

In the codex it just has

roll the scatter dice to determine the direction of the template, and on a roll to hit it says that it is pointed towards the nearest enemy.

So from this i gather that this weapon goes off straight away, and doesnt hang around for subsequent turns and move around D6" If it does, how does it work?

    sorry for being a spud.

it can still move, you roll to scatter like normal and it randomly points using scatter again if its hits etc.

At least that how I use it. I think Uzis got what spore against what army pretty right there. Poison works will against Tau, 50% chance of killing no saves!! brilliant

You use normal Spore mine rules. After it detonates, You follow the special rules outlined in the Bio-Acid entry.

The rules can be confusing at times, so keep asking if You don't seem to get the gist of something. If You don't ask, You don't learn.
