okay so this might be for another forum (if it is can a mod move it please) but how the hell do you guys mounth your skimmers and XV8's on those darn flying stands without them breaking every 5 minutes?
I recently tried to use a magnet in the foot of an XV8 and a magnet on the top of a flying base to try and get some dymnamic leaping pose but my suit just keeps twizzling around and the dropping off!!
With the XV8's: be careful with them. I actually haven't had a problem with this yet. When I do a flying pose, I drill a hole (usually at an angle to make it look cool) through the standard base and glue a clear flying stick into it, so it's pretty durable. I usually plan my poses ahead of time though, so I pretty much know where to put stuff.
for the vehicles: Rare earth magnets. I glue the magnets up into the fuselage (i think I use 1/4" diameter ones but i'm not sure, they might be 3/8") and my flying base consists of a bright nail (I cut them so they have a flat bottom and so they are not all the same exact height) epoxied into a large flying base. the magnet sticks to the head of the nail very well. I try to keep my vehicles straight on the bases (i.e, don't angle the nail), for LOS purposes, etc.

I haven't actually tried modelling a flying XV8 yet, all my guys are standing on solid ground (or chaos marine corpses). I thought about the flying pose but considered the standing one to make a more stable model.
