Welcome to Librarium Online!
I always ignored him in the codex, never wanted to bother with him. But I just checked his stats and hes not that bad. Just a Shas'O with CC abilities.
Im thinking about making an army with him just to try it out.
Anyone used him before/ have any good tactics to use with him/ have a good army list to use with him?
Have him and used him. I don't generally as my current 'official' army is led by an Aun - which kinda eliminates the chance of using O'Shovah.
But he is good - especially if like me you disdain the use of Kroot. The Ork-Hunter thing can give your opponents some nasty shocks, and while O'Shovah *is* still Tau (technically) he's nasty enough to tear apart anyone who isn't meant to be in combat in other races.
Besides, the model just looks so cool!
The Farsight Enclave will never be a more effective army than straight Tau, but they're fun to play. I'd say include him, but only use him when your opponent lets you (Special Character and all) and they aren't Tyrannid. Or Speed Freek.
Thanks for the info Khryseis.
Im thinking about getting an O'shovoh or an Aun to add some flavor to my list, cause although my current one is doing well, I like a challenge.
Does anyone know if you can take Tau Auxiliaries with Commander Farsight? ANd if so, can they be given the Ork fighter upgrade? That would make them better than Kroot at CC (same WS,1 higher I, plus a 5+ save).
I believe you can take Tau Auxilaries with him - in fact fluff-wise that's where they'd be most prevalent. Sadly though, one can't make them Ork Fighters - I quote '...any Tau unit in the army...'
So... no Kroot or Drones, and no Humans.
I don't hold with the whole Farsight enclave malarkey.
It would have been nice for a White Dwarf scenario or something but not for the codex.
I think I'd have rather seen a special commander character that could be used in a regular Tau army, rather than some hokey breakaway faction that has disassociated itself from the Tau empire.
It's a bit annoying that they've constructed a whole book full of lovely fluff about the Tau and their empire etc. etc. then they go, "Oh and here's a nice special character that's nothing to do with all that". It's especially irritating as the Tau army options are pretty limited when compared to the multitudinous Imperial and Eldar army variants available.
They chucked in some undertones that Farsight's lot might have some important part to play in the greater scheme of things, but they could've left that sort of guff for an 'add-on' or something.
Sorry to rant, what do you guys think?
Do the things
Well, personally I quite like the idea... but then I don't hold with sullying my hands with Kroot, so sometimes (and assuming I'm let) I simply drop Aun'O Ka'lii, pick up Shas'O Shovah, scatter a few Ork Hunter units around my army to give my opponents a horrible surprise (Hormagaunts charge Stealth Suits, are wiped out to a bug that turn. Stealth suits don't get scratched, move on as though nothing happened.), and we're in business.
Of course, if you *like* Kroot... then that's different.
But it wasn't the Kroot that just casually increased in three months what it took them three thousand years to do from scratch.

I like using O'Shovah. It was great having 1 tau take out an entire Termie squad in CC.
I don't like Breakaway faction restrictions though.
Most of them don't bother me too much:
Kroot: don't have any put together
Stealth: restriction doesn't bother me too much
Broadside: don't have enough models to break this restruiction anyway
Ethereals: don't like normal ones, would love to take Aun'Shi with O'Shovah though
Drone Squads: I would like to be able to use some.

Personally I hate O'shovah (I'm a UM player though) because he's awesome i cc. U should tke him to suprise some cocky nid's or sm players when they charge him and get slaughter (talking from experience). There is just one thing I need to check, The ork fighter rule does it only increase the unit's Ws or can u in creas their BS instead??? My freinds seems too think you can increase their BS instead of their WS
We strike like lightning, fast and deadly
In the shadows you will only find death
Ork Fighters allows 'WS' and 'I' to be increased. Both are increased, not one or the other. BS is NOT increased. I suggest smacking your friend with his codex.
...yeah. What he said. Not only does the name kind of point out the flaw in that - Hello? This is Ork Fighter. Not Iron Warrior Fighter or Tau Fighter - but the fluff (and the rules) are fairly definitely against it.
Basically O'Shovah thinks his troops shouldn't mind getting their hands dirty. Personally, I think its just because he likes his Dawn Blade.O'Shovah - "Ooooh, Pretty Sword!"
