Tau is T in ancient greek, just as A is Alpha and D is Delta!!!
Maybe there's other greek terms hidden throught!
Games workshop gets a lot of stuff from history. Horus, as in the Horus Heresy, was Osirus's cousin. Horus sought revenge against Set, the brother of Osirus for killing Osirus.
The Primarch or the chapter master, don't remember which, of the White Scars is similar to gangus kahn, as is the tactics used by that chapter.
I don't mean to sound mean, but all of what you said is pretty obvious, especially the khan one. And of course there are more.
Turtles For the Turtle God!
Shells For the Shell Throne!
I'm sorry but not everyone knows as much about history as you do... that stuff about khan was new to me, along with the other stuff he said... so either say something contributing or dont say it at all... no one likes a know-it-all

I think, more particularly in this situation, given the tau mentality:
TAU = "WE" in Finnish (I think it was Finnish, I learned this on a MMORPG, so it might have been Dutch).
"Listen up you primitive screwheads ... see this ... this is my BOOM-stick!" - Ash
"I told you, it's not Pink! It's Light Red!" Donut on his new power-armor.
I have read in the past that the Tau name comes from the name Tao, the Chinese character for the "the way" and "the path" of the universe, although the Army itself only vaguely resemble the philosophy for which its name derives.
