New player needs help with army

I've played 40k for quite some time- I played marines, but got sick of them when everyone else played marines too and you wind up playing with and against marines all the time. I played mech IG, but got tired of not moving at all and nobody liked playing my overpowered and boring army.

So now I have arrived at Eldar- I was thinking of doing an infantry/walkers list. Please tell me how feasible an army would be with a mixture of the following units.

    HQ- Farseer and warlocks
TROOPS- Guardians w/ starcannons (can't they get a 4+ cover save, even in the open somehow?) and Rangers
    ELITE- Striking Scorpions
    FAST ATTACK- Warp Spiders
HEAVY SUPPORT- War Walkers, Wraithlord, and either a platform or dark reapers

What should I do with an army with those units? Would an army with those units stand a chance? Those are my favorite units and I thought it would be cool to have kind of lighter, jungle fighting-style force.

    Any help would be appreciated.

This list can work very well using the combination of the avatar and a farseer fortuning him. This way the hoards of guardians you take will be fearless. From there you can include whatever else you want though they usually tend to run harlies for counter charge, DA for shootiness, and wraithlords for anti tank.

Also, guardians can get a 5+ cover save in the open by taking a warlock with conceal.

Are all of those units generally pretty solid? If I took a list like that would I be lacking in say, anti-tank power, or close combat power?

If I did take an avatar, as suggested, what should you put him near?

In general you want the avatar, farseer with fortune and anti tank equipped wraithlords in the centre and then just surround them with gads of infantry. My persoanl favorite is Dire avengers as they do everything better than guardians do though for pure volume of troops guardians have their place as well. Just behind your infantry you would like a unit or two of CC specialists to help bail your normal squads out when they get charged, my favorites are scorpions or harlies.
