Welcome to Librarium Online!
In the codex it says that Yeriel's eye would damage any unit under that big template, would that include his allies?
yes it effects everyone but him.
- You must set fire to water or you will be extinguished.
So why does everyone say" put him in with storm guardians " and you want to use his eye. You would pratically kill all the storm guardians
Maybe so you won't have any storm guardians in the next list you make because they'll all be dead? They're trying to help you!!!
I jest! I love storm guardians, I just wish they had some grenades
Because he isn't strong enough to go alone. And if you put him with aspect warriors he'll kill all the aspect warriors.
Much better to kill cheap little storm guardians than expensive as hell aspect warriors. Of course you could run him alone and not kill any allies but then he'll probably lose the combat and you don't want that.

If anyone wants any kind of help writing fluff for any kind of GW army just ask.
The eye is definitely a fun last measure sort of thing - like 'Death from above' in Battletech.
As for where to put Yriel - Dire Avengers led by an exarch with defend and the shimmershield for me.
Storm Guardians: not tough enough. Banshees: Too many eggs in one basket. Scorpions: ditto, and they can't even fleet.
Acually, the die avengers bit looks real good with the invenerable save, but It's only 5+.
Would the warlock's conceal work for them when he uses it's eye, the guardians would be cheap if they fail and I woudn't have to waste time killing on the storm guardians and Dire Avengers.8Y
I find Yriel can work in a mech list. He helps the skimmers in escalation and the skimmers get him into combat. A possebility would be Falcon + Yriel + 5 Firedragons.
The Dragons can suicide against a tank while Yriel charges a unit idially clearing his kill zone. Next turn when the opponent consolidates/countercharges Yriel can use his template on the incoming crowd.
