I'm finishing off a Hammerhead variant under VDR that has a twin-linked railgun in the nose - the railguns are mounted either side of the nose, just abeam of the intakes, the hammerhead "wings" having been removed. My quandary now is to find a decent, evocative name for this brutal-looking creation.
My first choice would've had to have been Manta, given the 2 "appendages" at the front, but that's already been taken. I've also considered Swordfish, given the fact the 2 railguns poke out at the front, but somehow that doesn't seem right.
I'm a bit stuck and bereft of inspiration at the moment. Are any of you out there suitably inspired to propose a suitable (and please note the adjective suitable!) name for this beastie? Any such suggestions will be most welcome.
Thanks in adavnce.

The 'Bull Shark'
The 'Horn Shark'
Both these fit with the appendage theme of your VDR vehicle (and the marine species naming convention of GW ).
There is also another name I like the 'Devil Ray' these are the only existing shark/ray names I can think of.
I am at work at the moment but I will have a think later on and see what I can come up with.
Are you sticking to the marine species naming convention? Or are you open to other suggestions?
I had thought (for a short while) about "White Tip" but certain of my chums have a rather puerile sense of humour and I'm not sure I wanted to get into all of the likely banter the first time I deployed the vehicle ... ...
So, in the meantime. let your creative juices flow, in whatever direction they see fit ... ...

the anaconda, the railguns are like his teeth...?
What about the Goblin Shark (yes there is such a thing)
and the little bit of info
couldnt remember the name so googled it, those two forward cannons seem like they would match the horn (perhaps even adding a little armor plating around them)
holy crap! that thing looks like what god made when he was high and had some bits left over! ;? ;? ;?
Even Orca would've done at a pinch, but that's already been used - for a dropship of all things ... ... ...
true, but it does exist, and it looks like it would fit. I know you were wanting to stay with the marine theme, and the comment about the horned shark made me try to remember its name. In that link is also the Latin name, which sounds better than Goblin Shark
I will try to think up some more names for ya, just gimmie a bit.
Narhwhale perhaps (those unicorn whaled up in the artic if i remember correctly.

Okay, here's my two suggestions, keeping it nautical:
1. The Capstan: This is the wheel on a boat used for hauling in masts. More importantly, it's the place where sailors are tied to and lashed repeatedly for their misdeeds. Nautical, violent, etc.
2. The Swordtail: A freshwater fish, known for male-male violence and the females eating their young. It's not exact, but it's a neat fish name that fits with the whole Tau ship thing.
Hope these help!
