Do you guys consider the box set with a ton of Crisis suits to be a good deal ?
I don't plan to play Tau during Apoc games, but I've always wished to play a Crisis-heavy list in standard 40k games. I have no idea whether it would be a decent list, or completely unplayable >_>
Any comment on the usefulness of that box set will be appreciated ^___^
The Crisis Suit boxed set is very good value. In fact, all the splash sets are. Work on the theory that you will be paying roughly 66% of the normal cost for the contents of many of them.
As to playing with a Crisis-heavy army, yeah sure. It works. Ask anyone who plays a Farsight Enclave with full Deathbomb unit! That's effectively what you could do with this one boxed set: an instant entire Farsight Bodyguard unit, plus the required Tau Commander, and a spare XV8 to cover the obligatory 1+ Elite XV8 team. And you get a set of Stealths into the bargain.
Sweet stuff. Wish it had been available before I got all 20 of my XV8s in the normal fashion, ie individually! ;?

i went to buy one from warhammer world today when i was passing on my way back from London.
didn;t realsie they weren't out until saturday!!
i use 8 suits at the moment so I want another box so that I can drop my team of stealths and use another 3 suits when i need too!
So many suits! XD
I just love them, I wonder how long will it take to build, paint and learn how to play such a huge amount of juicy targets >____>
I was planning to play something like 2 FW units with a DF and a ton of crisis\stealth suits!
I'm still not sure about heavies, I've been reading many interesting posts regarding broadsides\hammerheads etc...will probably end up playing a lone broadside and a couple of vehicles ^___^
Just remember, if you are going to run a mech list the broadside will end up left behind and vulnerable.
Anyway, back to topic. Suit heavy lists are great and the Rapid Insertion Force is good value for money, especially if you are starting a regular army from scratch.
Doing a cost comparison you are saving 37.5%, or 3.75 battlesuits.
The new Apocalypse sets are great for someone beginning an army as the Armoured Interdiction Cadre gives you 3 tanks for the price of 2, all you need to buy at cost are a few Fire Warrior squads.
I've put in advanced orders for both the Rapid Insertion Force and the Armored Interdiction boxes. Great value. Seeing as I've only recently begun playing Tau, I'll have almost everything I'll ever need.

That hunter Cadre is really nice too, i would just get the insertion force and that. Tau really luck out with these apocolypse releases. i dont think anyone actually gonna play apocolypse, its too armor heavy. i think tons of people will start new armies from these sets. the IG platoon is fabulous, so is the tyranid endless horde.
I'm definitely going to buy the suits box ^___^
As for the other one...dunno....I'm not really in love with the sky ray, though I've never tried it before. Nobody even plays one here,a nd reading the description of a unit on the codex is completely different then playing it.
The new set w/ the suits is defenatly a good deal, so good in fact that I've already preordered it. I haven't decided on the exact list I'm going to be using but the one I have drawn up right now only has four suits in it so the others in box are going to be donators to the extra arm and weapon magnitizing cause.
