Questions on shadow in the warp

I'm starting a tyranid army, and im particulary interested in Shadow of the warp

However, the way it is phrases raises alote of question.

    1. Does the "Shadow in the warp" have to be used, or is it a passive ability that doesent require shooting phase

1i. If it does have to be cast, does it last all game like the description says (wasent sure cause low cost for this was... amazing...)

    2. The second part of the spell, about the results, who is that talking about? does my whole army gain this? only the guy with it? or their army gains it along with the 3d6 thing.

If they sound stupid, let me know or forever hold your peace. Help on clarifying this would be excelent!

    Thanks!

EDIT: I replize this may of been talked about before, but i went back like 8 pages of forums, i didnt feel like sorting through 150 of so.

it is a passive ability because it does not say that you have to roll for it

so hence it is a passive ability.

it only effects the enemy with regards to both the D6 and the protection from perils. we dont get either of these. Always seems to mme this power should stay if the creature with it dies, but that is not to be

The 'we get no protection from perils of the warp' is arguable.
I'd say that it works for your opponent and yourself.

Good point from Ladon. The extra dice clearly only affect the enemy but the Perils-effect is labeled as any, which could well be interpreted as applying to both Tyranid and opponent. It even makes sense from a background view, as the shadow from the Hive Mind blocks any nasty Warp creatures from attacking Psykers.

I understand that it makes sense in the fluff, but from the way its worded it appears to me in the sentance about no perils to still be in the frame of reference about the enemy player psychers.
