I have a quick question regarding the foam inserts for a Sabol Motor Pool Transport, which I just purchased for my Tyranid army (First army in over 14 years!!!). So needless to say I'm very very pumped to get back into 40K lol.
The Motor Pool comes with the following trays:
~ 1 x 4" TRAY
~ 2 x 3" TRAYS
~ 2 x 2.5" TRAYS
~ 1 x 1" TRAY
My question, is should I purchase a few more 1" trays for the Spinegaunts (I have 48 and will soon have 60) or will they fit better in a 1.5" tray? My problem is that the transport is still en-route, but after looking over the dimensions of each tray more carefully I don't think the trays provided will hold all of the gribbles. I'm pretty sure my warriors will fit in the 2.5" trays and the Hive Tyrants/Carnifexes (2 each) should fit nicely in the 4" tray. I can put the zones in a 1" tray or possibly the 4" tray if there is room. Oh and I forgot my Raveners! The total model count is about 72.
Mine fit better in the 1.5" tray. The 1" tray just isn't tall enough for me to be comfortable with how they sit in it.
there's a couple ways you can do Spinegaunts (specifically them though)
Here are my spinegaunts in a 1" foam tray. They fit ok, poke out a little, but it's not enough to damage them. after my first batch, i started modeling them so they would fit.
you can see the ones modeled with the jumping bodies fit in sideways in a 4x2 recangle, and you can squeeze some into a 3x2 if you plan it right.
Hormagaunts are all going in 1.5" foam.
Thank you very very much for the pics!! This helps out a LOT!! I've used only regular non-leaping bodies for my spinegaunts so it looks like they'll fit very nicely side ways in 1" trays (like your spinegaunts with the leaping bodies).
