Ok so i've gotten bored of my Culexus converted to Archon, and right now i'm looking for a model with slightly more armour on him(to give him that sinister lord look). So far, i've got a few candidates...
One is the Drazhar model, although i'm going to cut off the curly bit at the top of his head, and greenstuff some hair on.
Another would be one of the Black Guard(Dark Elves) Command Models. Although i'll need to find a way to modify the mask with greenstuff.
Another more common candidate would be the Incubi from Vect's box. but i'm abit meh because that would be so common
One more would be the Executioner(dark elves) champion model, that needs quite abit of modification(mostly green stuff).
So, what do you guys think?
Yeah, all of those except the incubi one I've used at one point or another, I agree with you that just putting a cloaked incubi as your lord is pretty lame. For conversions, kwikwag I must say has some pretty cool looking ones, mostly based off the drazhar model. My on foot lord happens to be the old fire dragon exarch body (3rd edition) with the old banshee exarch's glaive (also 3rd edition) and Malus Darkblade's scaled cloak. I think I used the head from the mounted Slaanesh Champion from the FB range. It looks pretty cool. I think I've already said this before in a similar thread though.
There are a lot of eldar models that make good bases for conversion. All the striking scorpion models just as one example, and some of the phoenix lords like Karandras and Feugan. All you've gotta do is look around the eldar, hordes of chaos, dark elf, wood elf and high elf ranges on the UK online store and just look at every model to see if there are any cool bits you want.
Like your ideas I've used a black guard and executioner champion slightly modified, they're solid choices, being fairly regal looking models while still being quite sinister. I haven't really considered Assassins as a dark eldar lord yet, only as extra harlequins and such, for example a modified callidus makes a good troupe leader (old harlequins) and a modified culexus makes a good solitaire.

This is going to sound a bit lame but sometimes a plain old Warrior can be converted well.
Put him on a bigger base (or pack the base higher with a washer), add a fantasy Chaos cloak and add a larger meaner weapon along with the splinter pistol arm from the sprue.
Doesn't look have bad in my eyes and is a good method if your on a budget.
In a controversy the instant we feel anger we have already ceased striving for the truth, and have begun striving for ourselves.
Drahzar is an awesome model to build from and had several models of him given to me - I also have him as himself. I do have the Lelith model which serves as my Archite model and 2 versions of the female lord (one original and the other I gave her Lelith trident).
Drahzar head on one of vects cool Incubi (with overcoat)
Drahzar with a punisher & t-helm (who is now wearing Malekiths cloak but not shown in pic). The t-helm is splinter pistol from the female model that was fit onto the curly part of Drahzars horns.
Drahzar on a bike with that big claw weapon and green stuff cloak
Female Lord with Leliths trident and her left arm separated so she is pointing the pistol.
I also have another heavily moded female lord on a bike but I don't have it uploaded yet.
My next Lord will be Lelith but instead of a trident (which looks like a punisher ) I am going to put the fantasy DarkElf Beastmaster whip instead - in my army all the agonisers are whips so Lelith is bugging me with that trident.
another good whip for the left hand is here http://store.us.games-workshop.com/s...GameNav=301115
2 of these guys would be easy to mod just by giving them an Incubi punisher - thats it!
Don't forget the metal Sybarites - they too can be converted.
This is my archon, made from a http://uk.games-workshop.com/darkelv...ure-gallery/2/ sorceress, quite easy, chop arm those horns/hat things, replace a blade with the skull-staff icon and tada.
I've been considering this one for a while (out of the Dark Elf sorceress). I rather like it, though it looks more like a Wych Lord than an Archon (maybe its the lack of clothing? lol)
I was thinking Lelith's top half on Reaver Jetbike; arms modified in a 'jousting' position.
Another agoniser idea I had was a 'ball and chain' idea. Though instead of the 'ball' it was a circular disk with lots and lots of blades. I figured this would be great on a jetbike lord, as though he was pulling his arm back, ready to whip his chain-ey agoniser forward.
Ah, thanks for all the advice guys , you've given me some interesting conversion ideas.
I'm looking at striking scorpions(particularly the exarch with two hands on the sword...) any ideas?
As for converting warriors, there's one really nice one based off a ravager gunner. I can't currently recall who did it, but I can link you to a picture:
Made from a ravager gunner, green stuff, ork head, and a pair of punishers with incubi arms and backpacks.
