Righty, hello folks.
Im buying a Cloudstrike Squadron *grin* and i want to have a seer council in a falcon. The main problem im having is what powers the Seer should have. I want fortune, but i cant use it when i disembark from a falcon...
Thanks in advance
Have you considered the traditional solution : a Farseer on Jetbike ?
Go for mind war or eldritch storm.
Or just go for Fortune and deploy them so that they will be out of harm's way on the turn they disembark.
- Just love that maki! -
You know that you can have the warlocks seperate from the farseer right? You could pack up a whole lotta destructs in there and still keep the jetbike seers seperate until it's convenient to merge them.
If you must stick seers in there you could just overpay a little and get a psychic power for them to use the turn they come out (mind war or storm) and then another power to use once engaged (one of them should absolutly have fortune, I'd suggest guide for the other).
You will tend towards needing: guide, fortune, enhance, destructor, and embolden. anything extra is icing on the cake. That makes for a pair of farseers with at least three warlocks, I'd add a fourth myself. Happy hunting.
1. For 5 pts you can substantially reduce the likelihood of having your costly HQ unit folding up their robes and fleeing from the enemy... I would say it's worth it !
2. Now, I don't know if Mongooseo had THAT in mind, but there's also the debated issue about Embolden enabling your Farseers to re-roll their failed psy-tests ! The argument is that psy-tests are one particular category of Leadership tests, and that Embolden allows to re-roll any failed Leadership test... There has been strong opposition to this interpretation a few months ago, but I do not remember any definitive conclusion being reached. I'll try to see if I can find that thread...
Farseer on bike is your bet, but if you have to take a seer council I'd take a seer w/ mind war and fortune he's a bit over 100 pts but he's well worth it. fortune making them very tough and mind war is protecting you squads in an indirect way by killing power fists and the like (not that they hurt you all that much but they still dish it out lots more than the standard trooper). Oh and would you like double cheese on top of your cheese sir?

I found the thread about Embolden / failed psy tests :

A quick read shows that from a RAW point of view, Embolden would allow re-rolling; however this strict RAW interpretation is not considered fair play by many... So it boils down to your preference : tourney-style RAW-based power-gaming, or friendly. I am usually wary of RAW, but in this particular instance I think the balance tips in favour of RAW... The way I would play it : I would clarify this point pre-game, and/or dice off.
Hope this helps...
