This is my first post, even though i've been reading the forums for some time. Any ways to the question.
I am getting my army apocalypse ready. I want to run Wych lords but am stuck, since the codex says I can't take certain units. Does the no F.O. negate this? I am usually against talos in normal games, but one talos can stop an entire brood of gaunts. Sure he would be stuck there the rest of the game but atleast I could focus on the larger stuff. I have asdrubael too who would be nice to have out there, but does he have to be the only archon? The book says that even though it is against DE nature, several kabals and cults will join together to achieve a greater objective. I hope thats the case.

Apocalypse means you can take your whole model collection. Which technically means you can take a Baneblade in your DE army.
It would look silly and ppl would cry cheese but its doable.
So bring Whycch cult and reqular DE is not an issue

I too have Vect and was planning on using him in a Splinter Raid Force formation. Vect, 2 raider squads and a bike squad (perhaps 2 bike squads). I was still planning on having some Haemys to drop portals and an Archite with wyches coming out of the portal. However, some of the stratagems is looking rather interesting and may forget the portals altogether.
If I had enough raiders I would seriously consider a second Splinter Raid Force with another Archon, Raiders squads and bikes.
My question would be: Can you use an Archite with a wych retinue in a Splinter Raid Force formation? The description says "Archon" with no mention of "Archite" and I would rather use wych cult units in the Splinter Raid Force.
Ok great.It says in the codex he can be the only archon or archite, but since this was answered above it doesn't matter.MY answer would be no, Achite is not an Archon and the formation says Archon
I personally can't wait to play. I have a 5 ravager titan hunter squad. It will be glorious.
My only problem with both of the dark eldar datasheets in the apocalypse book is that they seem one step short of being good.
In my opinion, the splinter raid force should have the ability to include ANYTHING in a raider, not just warriors. It should cost about 50 points more, but if you have wyches or grotesques in a raider, they should be able to join the rest of the force.
As for the ravager titan hunter force, it would be great...except for the fact that you can't fire more than one dark lance and maintain skimmer protection to get glanced only. Translation: A large number of dead ravagers due to dying on a roll of 2+ on a penetrating hit. So if they don't have skimmer protection to negate penetrating hits, they basically have to pray for a good volley or they're dead. IMO dark eldar need a way to fire multiple heavy weapons while moving over 6 inches.
Well I was thinking of having the ravagers come in on turn two as a reserve with half of the reserves. I want to try flank march and the los blocking one. Its just the first turn that scares me. My first game will most likely be against guard. All that ordnance. I will have to try the splinter raid to see how it works. Maybe flying over to the basilisks who can't shoot back at them.
Splinter raider is awesome. Deep strike. no scatter. first shot. no retaliation. Brilliant!
I used it and decimated a blood angel death company to a man in one turn. Then there is almost no retaliation fire. And then the blood letting began.
Against guard remember that ord. can't hit Flying targets. eg. the slinter raider force!
It does hurt that you can't have wyches, but then you just wouldn't see a DE army do anyhting diffferent EVER.
The thing about the ravager titan hunter squad is that it's abilities are really against things with void shields and eldar shields, which have an armorr of 12-13. They don't get a bonus against a baneblade. They do get to ignore imboilised results 1/2 the time. Buteven that isn't great
I'm really not sure how as DE you proceed to take out a titan. Perhaps with a splinter raider force just come in right next to it with blasters and dark lances and hope!
