Welcome to Librarium Online!
i got an idea, usin commander farsights sword, do any of you think we should be able to take CCWs for our battlesuits?
i got a squad of 3 and i was wonderin weather i should send the idea to WD or not.
any input would be helpful.
Personally I think they should expand O'Shovah's influence on the army. For example, if your army is lead by O'Shovah and the team has the Ork Fighters upgrade then they can take a Power Weapon as one of their hardpoints for +10 points.
But only for Farsight Enclave forces, normal Tau hate close combat too much.
Um. Not sure how to put this, Tau-Elite2k4, but I disagree - fairly definitively. Tau are definitely not what you'd call combat-oriented, in fact viewing it as tantamount to idiocy for the most part - as well as definitely not part of the Tau'va. Crisis suits are meant to be gun-platforms, not wasted by throwing them into a meatgrinder. No. No. Not a chance. Never.
333, I think you could make a case for Ork Fighter Crisis Suits getting CC weapons - but not power weapons. The Dawn Blade itself is just a Power weapon with Monstrous Creature effects - maybe something akin to a chopper or something to give it +1 WS or S?
i only meant the swords to be as an anti charge booster, just incase you WERE charged you would have a tiny little bit of help, better than something with only a 6+ save (kroot)
The only reason I didn't recomend +1 S is because a Crisis's Strength is already 5, more than enough to defend against most opponents, more strength would be pointless. Maybe like a mastercrafted effect?
My only suggestion would be for Crisis suits to have an optional hard-wired one-use Photon grenade dispenser, to deny would-be assaulters the benefit of the extra charge attack.
This has precedences in the Tau army anyway, in the Photon grenades available to Fire Warriors, and the decoy dispensers on Devilfish and variants. The Tau are also smart enough to develop this and it would neither drastically alter the Tau's declared philosophy of 'Fire and Re-deploy', or the game balance.
It would be something akin to the Nahverteidigungswaffe close defence claymore-type weapon fitted to the largest German Panzers of late WWII.
Ryan Dancey, Vice President of Wizards of the Coast, believed that TSR failed because of "...a near total inability to listen to its customers, hear what they were saying, and make changes to make those customers happy." Are you listening, Games Workshop ?
hmm, another idea, instead of CCW's, why not somethin to make them more durable, there only like power armour troops with +1 str at the moment, hows about some better armour for +10 or +15 points? raise toughness by 1?
it seems like every week theres a "should tau get close combat stuff" thread and every week its the same answer NO
the tau abhor CC, and giving power weapons to orks (probably one of the best CC armies out there) is just stupid, the orks get butchered by our shooting and unless you turn the suits into marines we're going to get butchered in CC. its called balance
as a posibility i'd say giving a CC weapon to o'shovah's bodyguard might be ok, but apart from that i think its a no go
less hate more kittens
The main reason for Tau having no CC weapons is that noone tried to invent any. No serious Tau scientist would even think about doing this.
However, this could have changed for the O'shova Tau, without guiding ethereals. So maybe some O'shova only CC Troops.
Still, I would much more like to see enhanced BS Skill for Tau Elite.
hey, Tau are good at what they do. Thats shoot. And for a good Tau player, they are one of the few armies capable of handling almost any threat....so stop the whining already...
