Welcome to Librarium Online!
I was playing a friend of mine with 'nids, and i had a carnifix, my carnfix had strength 10, it marched up to the enemys lemon russes, and destroyed three in as many turns, that is why i belive that a carnifix with a strength biomorph is the best anti-tank weapon in the world.
(interestingly carnifix means 'executioner' in Latin)
Sounds like a triumphant moment for the hive mind. Carnifex are awesome against tanks if they can get to them... Not so good against skimmers though as it is tough to even hit them in CC.

gotta love em
While powerful on paper, a close-combat Carnifex is dubious as a tank-killer. Every vehicle in the game (except the Monolith) will have no trouble evading a Carnifex unless hampered by terrain. That's why most experienced Tyranid players build their Carnifecies as ranged attackers with a Venom Cannon and Barbed Strangler. Because a Carnifex will be at maximum strength for both of these weapons, the strength upgrade becomes redundant and unnecessary in most cases.
I have only a few games under my belt, but I have to agree. It is a WONDERFUL feeling to watch a carnifex tear through a Predator, Land Raider, etc.. I just get so giddy when I am within charging range. The impending doom is so great for the enemy armor that I need to fight back a huge smile. However, getting to the vehicles is always an issue. Escalation rules and Carnifex are not very good together...sigh. I agree that the Carnifex should have some ranged capabilities to make sure that it can do SOMETHING in any game. You still keep a huge advantage over armor in CC and you can do some stuff as you approach.
Nothing to see here, please move along.
*Places head on desk and drifts off into a daydream...*
The gameroom is enthralled to the table as my three winged carnifex swoop down to cut through enemy troops. They are on a rampage after ripping apart three Leman Russ tanks the previous turn. The tusked/winged carnage continues to play out. My opponent is in tears, not because he is disheartened. Rather the tears fall for the graceful beauty that is the winged carnifex. In the background a symphony is playing an angelic score to match with the devastation the winged creatures are displaying...

Yes, a winged option for the carnifex would be something else!
a bit off topic but reminds me of a funny moment i had involveing a carnifex
useing VDR i had created a tank with a mega lascannon, for 6 turns (was a massive game) it fired shot after shot at the carnifex, as it strode towards me, as the carnifex got close enough to be in assault range the following turn the tank took its last shot, and did nothing.
then, my jump pack equipped Chaplin, launched into the carnifex all alone, and bashed it to death before it could even crack its teeth!!!!!
