I've been toying with this idea for a while now. This lord would be mosty for fluff purposes because i just love the wraiths in the necron army but i want to make a lord with an escort of wraith. this partialy a modling factor and game thing. On the points side its kinda pricy because it uses up almost all of the 100 extra points alowed for a lord. A necron lord with destroyer body, phase shifter and a resurection orb. The destoryer body to keep him up with my wraiths the shifter so he'll have a water'd down invulnrable wratih save and an orb to keep um all alive.(My friends hate everything i love) I'm going to model it on a wraith body with the orb in the tail and switch the hands for the staff of light.
Any ideas on if this is a good idea or any modeling help wouold be most apreciated.
Its a common setup for a Necron Lord riding with Wraiths, and it can be a good idea to have a nice big unit of Scarabs for backup too. If you want an assault based force, throw in a second Wraith unit too.
It can be a good idea to give the Lord a Warscythe too, making it easier for him ans his unit to tear through things like Treminators.
As for modelling, i made something quite similiar ideas wise i think, the pics are linked from the thread below. The Lord pics are in my 3rd post of the thread.

If you drop the rez orb it aleviates a lot of points that aren't terribly needed on a destroyer lord.
Unless he's staying with troops to keep melee units off their back. Then the rez orb is nifty.
The ResOrb can be handy with Wraiths though, as even if they get their Inv Sv when hit by a power weapon, they wont get WBB. Bringing back just 1 Wraith means the ResOrb has already paid for itself. If you have 2 units of 3 near the Lord, then its quite likely to be worth its cost.
Hey have fun with that, I did one, here's the thread I posted:

somewhere in there is a step-by step instruction of what I did. The instruction may be all over the place, but I'm really pleased with the result. Sorry there are no pictures; I still haven't painted it, ran out of Dark Angels Green and never got any more.
Good luck though!
thanks this will really help. Just one more thing and i can start this deal does any one know how to bend the wrath tails without destroying them?
depends how bent you want to get, having done my step sons wraiths the tail joins are weak anyway, if I was doign my own I would be tmpted to cut between each of the spine elements, drill them all and thread them on to wire
Everything you have been told is a lie!
I was able to bend the lower half of the tail until it was coming out to about a 45 degree angle with the spines coming out at about 60, maybe a bit less. I only bent the upper half maybe 10 degrees.
So do most of the bending at the tail
the threaded tail one seems like it will work for my model as i want it to be in a more flying attack pose. what kind of drill would i use for such precision?
The Decayed Ones 2500 points of nurgly goodness.
Necron- Ice Wraiths of Scy-mir 2000+
Imperial Daemon Hunters- 1500
Not sure if you're still hung up on a wraith tail but here's a model I converted and use with destroyer body and phase shifter.
He's a pretty easy conversion if you've got the tools.
No more NG spearmen, thanks! Now I need some pump-wagons!
