Welcome to Librarium Online!
hi can some one come up with some good ideas for a apocalypse army of about 6,000pts
and if so any ideas of good allies for them.
Why take allies, with nids you can finally play them the way they are meant to be, lots of em.
Take full advantage of the datasheets for the nids as they are fun to use, watch your enemy waste his fireopower on the endless tides of gaunts and laugh when the broods come back again.
Though apocalypse nid is a nightmare for the painting, all those critters you need to paint but deploying something like 400+ of nids on the table and looking at your opponents face when he realises he's outnumbered by 20 or 30 to 1.
My plan evolves around making a giant pincer attack on my foe with all of the smaller niddies making the first wave on the table supported by the hierophant and barbed hierodule.
A 2nd wave consisting of all of my heavy cc monsters, hivemindbrood and a scythed hierodule will attack from the rear using flank march so should my foe deceideto hide in the rear he'll get a nasty surprise.
A Harridan, subterrannian swarm and the winged swarm will be used to harass units and to capture any objectives that haven't been claimed by the main swarm.

thanks ill take this into acount and is it worth getting a trygon
All I gotta say is, in the game of objective capturing, "hold at all costs" coupled with fully defensive upgraded Carnifexes (chitin/exo/carapace/regen/miasma) and synapse coverage is ridiculously hard to stop from capping objectives.
Put down 7-10 of them, and clump several of the objectives up together; give them sniperfex upgrades so they can pop tanks with mass fire each turn. Wander 'em in, keep genies and such behind if you really want, and camp the objective. Let your teammate / other forces worry about being offensive, so you don't have to keep anything else near objectives basically.

My answer to the poll is i can't justify the price.
If considering allies, make the allies function as a Genestealer cult from fluff perspective... Infected Guardsmen, Orks, Tau, Kroot, Eldar. Heck, 'Stealers can even infect Space Marines, although SM won't be producing any offspring IIRC (ref Black Library: Deathwatch GN).
But personally I'd also just go for more Tyranids. =)
I'd recommend painting a couple of units of Gaunts to normal standards for regular games, and then speedpainting/dipping/undercoating and shading/whathaveyou the Gaunts you'll need for Apocalypse. They don't need to look good, just to look the part! ;Y
As for the Trygon, I find it the nicest FW model... It's also a fast, tunneling CC monster, so yeah, if you want a monstrous CC-oriented creature the Trygon is an excellent bet!
"The meat things seek to destroy ourselves. They hunt us as we hunt them but they are weak and uncertain. The inferior flesh will be entirely destroyed, all biomatter consumed. Ourselves will fight to the last, all weak flesh must be devoured."
While I'd LOVE to have the forgeworld figs, I can't justify the price either. At last count it was somewhere over 300 USD for a trygon. More for the bigger fellow. (I think it was around 500-600 USD.)
Seems odd, the Tyrgon is just 70 GBP, seems hard you'd pay that much for it, you don't live in canada right?
Hm, let me go check on the current forge-world prices, its been awhile since I've looked.
OK, with shipping it looks to be 75gbp + 11.25gbp for shipping. That works out to about 176usd. Lower that what I calculated months ago, but still pretty expensive.
Oooh, they have more new nid stuff since I was last there! 8X
