I was thinking, which would be better on a Sniper 'Fex? VC/BS, or a TL'd VC? The BS is good for massed troops, but because of the 'Fex's weapon's high S, it will be firing on vehicles. Personally, even though it can only glance, I'd rather have two S10 shots, very likely to hit; than less likely to hit, but an extra S8 shot.
Anyways, I'm just getting into 'Nids, so sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but thanks in advance to anyone who posts.

Good question. 8Y
I think you would do well to proxy both build's and compare them. I have never tried a TL-VC but, my guess/gut feeling is that it would be a bit too expensive for the damage it delivers. Whilst the BS only has 1 shot, being the large template, it will hit at least 4 models and, without scatter, careful selection of the target model can have some devastating effects
Try them both but, I guess you will find, the BS-VC combination will out-perform the TL-VC, but you may prefer the more reliable TL-VC. Let us know

I go TLVC, only because it's intended solely for anti-tank, and I only have one.
Though for more general use, or against open-topped vehicles, the strangler/VC combo wins hands down.
Just use magnets though, that's the best way for your MCs.
BUT, I would argue that VC/BS will be better for anti-tank asw well as anti-troop. Only being able to glabnce is crap. I can't tell you how many times the BS has saved me. Plus, 2 TL shots versus 3 non-tl-shots is a discussion for someone with a calculator.
Plus, since you should never know what your opponent is fielding before you make the list, you don't want a TLVC and then realize all he's got is a bunch of guardsmen.... the VC/BS is a more useful/all-purpose gun.
Tyranids: 2500 pts
Imperial Guard: 1000 pts
Witch Hunters: 1000 pts
That's a good reason to take one of each.
However, your chances of hitting stay the same, you'll hit on average with the same number of shots, around about.
The thing is though that the BS has 2 less strength, my main concern is Leman Russes, and other things with ordenance guns, all of which usually have high front armour - what you'll be shooting at turn 1, and with the BS, you'll probably only glance on a 5 or 6, whereas with VC you'll glance on a 3-4.
The only goal is to stop it shooting the main cannon, and only one result on the glance table doesn't get that, and that's immobilise, all the rest stun it, destroy a weapon (obvious which) or kill the vehicle.
And even if they do horde infantry, you can always just shoot at something big or important.
A little mathhammer on this...
The chances of a vehicle of each AV being destroyed.
Edit: (all numbers assume the fex has ES for a BS3, and do not take into account open-topped vehicles or skimmers)
VC/BS - 35%
TL-VC - 25%
VC/BS - 28%
TL-VC - 21%
VC/BS - 21%
TL-VC - 17%
VC/BS - 14%
TL-VC - 13%
VC/BS - 7%
TL-VC - 8%
As you can see, the Twin-Linked Venom Cannon is only better against AV14 vehicles, and even then the difference is only marginal. Add to that the loss of the Barbed Strangler for infantry and the fact that it costs 15 MORE points to have TLVC over VC/BS and it is pretty obvious that you should have both a Venom Cannon and a Barbed Strangler. It also has other little advantages such as helping to make your opponent spread out to avoid the blast (including during deployment) which hinders his mobility and the small chance of pinning... No Carnifex will likely be able to fire on vehicles every single turn, so you will undoubtedly find that you sometimes fire on infantry and the BS is much better for that, and not shabby at all against vehicles either.

Cheers Zen, I knew someone would run the math for me
Nothing to see here, please move along.
Zen beat me to the math, but forgot one nice little point that makes the VC/BS even better:
The BS can penetrate AV13 and lower vehicles of all types. The TL VC can penetrate open toppers only.
