Welcome to Librarium Online!
Im starting orks when the new dex comes out and im not sure which hq's to take. i know i want 2, but i cant decide between the warphead big mek w/ sag or a warboss. Can anyone help me? Ive played against orks before but i dont know there specific rules so i still dont know the advantage of a warboss or any of the other two. Thanks
It comes down to what do you want to use in the rest of your army. For example, a warboss on a bike with a powerklaw adds a lot of versistility to any army. However, if your army is all footsloggers you may want to add the warphead to try and get the extra waaghs. A Big Mek is useful, however, if he's hanging out by himself he will get shot up ruthlessly by your opponent.
Me personally. I'm going with 1 warboss on a bike, and a Big mek with a KFF to give my boy squads the 5+ cover. As my force is mostly boys, it helps greatly. The Big Mek will also allow me to take a Dread as a troop choice which will add to my Iron Line as I"m running 3 slots of 3 kans. Ork HQ's should compliment the rest of the army as it seems to be more important than in other armies.
40K-Beakies(9-14-4),Guard(4-7-2),Orks(34-12-11). FANTASY-Dwarves(15-6-7),Beasts (14-14-1), Skaven (17-17-10) DoC (6-1-2). CYGNAR (28-15-1)
I personally think that an Ork Warboss is the fluffiest option. Seriously, it is proppa!
I guess Ork psychers have changed a bit since the previous fluff, but it doesn't make much sense to see them as army leaders... They used to be so reluctant to fight that they had to be dragged in on chains!
Meks are cool and have fun weapons. A good choice.
But yeah, it depends on what you want in your army. Fluff-wise, model-wise, game-play wise.
However, I'd stick to at least one boss just for fluffy coolness and proppaness, but thatz just me.
Well, Warbosses are just plain old mean...
We played a standard cleanse 2v2 (IG/Ork Vs. Chaos/Nids... we decided not to think to much about that combination). Our (IG/Ork) flank collapsed when a Demon Prince & Flyrant tore into it, with a lictor, a chosen infiltrator squad, and a squad of chaos marines. When the game was over it was a tie, and my warboss on his bike (now named the red moped baron of death) had killed 1 Lictor, 1 Flyrant, 10 Chaos Marines with a PF AC + Rhino, 5 Chosen... unfortunatly some grots with a kannon killed the Demon Prince before the baron could get his power klaw on him.
He just gunned his moped and ran them over, all hail Cybork body, never leave home without it. Warbosses on bikes allow you to deploy a scary SOB within 18" or just turbo boost him a round if you need him on the other side of the table. Even if he doesn't go crazy and kill everything, you can use him as a deterrent, keeping your opponents on their toes for fear of the crazed greenskin on a moped.
Chaos: 2/0/1, Eldar: 2/0/0, Imperial Guard: 2/0/1, New Ork: 12/0/0, Witchhunters: 2/0/0, Demonhunters: 2/0/1, Tyranids 1/0/1, Blood Angels 2/0/1
Mek, that snottling gun thing is just too funny to no use.
Army's used: Space Wolves, Tomb Kings, High Elves, Tyranids, Tau and Eldar.
yea for only 25 pys now who would not want to use em
Old Zogwort, because nothing could be more satisfying than turning any IC but Karn or some other IC immune to psych into a squig.
*Edit* Oops I guess Karn would be immune to this since it is a Psychic Power

Unfortunatly for me (regarding game tactics) i always choose armys after the way miniatyres look and fluff rules and background material
Even so, i still manage to win more than 50% of my battles :p
Im also starting a new ork army and i will definetly go for a Mek with SAG just because it looks awesome! He will proberbly never hit anything or he might even pound my own units, but my god i will laugh when it happens
Its alot of money, and alot of time painting, and if you feel emotionally attatched to the minis the results tend to be better.
In short: I will go for a Mek with SAG for starters, then i will convert an ovesized mean green killingmachine, aka Warboss, as my second choice.
Good luck gaming!

Just a quick q about the SAG, it will scatter if you miss right?
Its an ordinance weapon, that needs line of sight and so forth?
BTW-what an awesome weapon to use in 40k-40min
since he have less than 3wounds right?
I might be way off here, but
Im at work at the moment and cant check it.
Otherwise its a bit pricey for a gun that might hit something once or twice
during a whole game :p
