I've been thinking some about the footslogging lists, loving the whole horde thing, but one problem I've had with the footsloggers is that for me I feel they need to be in cover to have a chance of surviving many armies so they can get to them. This causes the problem of rolling bad and therefore not getting to the enemy either, but basically every weapon with AP will kill our orks if they wound them.
To help with this, i've been thinking of running some Trukk Screens. Basically the new trukk, (for it's size) with the minimum amount of boyz in it that will run up as far as it can to screen the squad of pesky shooters (devestators, inquisition squads, tau fire warriors, etc.)
This would cut them out completely, but it could be a good moveable wall to screen my footsloggers, and cheap to boot.
What say you? Would ramshackle may make it too unreliable? Ideas?
I don't know man.. I think you should plow those points into padding the foot squads numbers to increase how many survive. The trukks a pretty soft target. One round and your screens gonna be gone. I've had luck in the past using Kans like that but not enough that I use it consistently.
A inquistor squad could have something like a plasma cannon, heavy bolter, psycannon, and other stuff i'm sure. Anything that squad hits is most likely going to die. If you're going through terrain it will take even longer to get to them, but you will get a cover save - probably 4+ at best.
A 35 point trukk with five boyz in it would cost 65 points. You can deploy the trukk and boyz seperately and on your first turn run it out 24 inches in front of the most feared unit. They will need to completely destroy it to keep it from blocking line of sight in the future so if it is still there, it blocks LOS. The five boyz could still slogg next to another unit to keep them out of trouble.
Not saying its the best, just doing some thinking of other kinds of strategies.
Why not just screen your footsloggers with buggies with no upgrades? They are cheap then the trukk squads, you can convert them to be larger, and by the rules they block lines of sight the same. Plus in a squadron of 3 you can make quite the mobile wall. In the past i've just moved 24 inches on turn 1 to create lots of mobile terrain with the buggies. at 30 ish a pop with no upgrades your looking at between 105-120 pts based on how you use them. In a 2K game its a good sacrifice to block line of sight to your important mobs. That way you get your squads of 30, and don't have to take them at the reduced amount of 12 for the trukk squads.

I'm not saying don't do it. I'd like to know if it works. Play testing is how we get outa theory and into practice.
Well if your running a footsloger list then you probally could include a Big Mek or two with kustom force fields. They will give you some nice cover saves for anyone in range so not a bad deal at all (also can take a dread as a troop if you want).
Still Mouse probally has a very good idea as well and to my knowledge one of LO ork veteran players I would listen to him (since it seems the ork forums has had an influex of newer ork players).
Also using trukks lets you have less footslogging boyz slots and IMO you would have to take 4 trukks mininimum to make a decent wall which wouldn't let you have too many boyz for a foot slogger list.
Is it me or does any other necron player get annoyed when they see people saying "Necrons eat souls". How is that even possible as souls are part of the warp and necrons want nothing to do with it? Eh probaly me just me being picky.

Using buggies would have been my advice, but converting them to be larger just so they block line of sight better is sketchy. Also a squad a killa kans with a Big Mek and kustom force field behind them can block line of sight and can be pretty resilient. Don't forget vehicle squads can be up to 4 inches away so it blocks about one foot of the board spread out.
I don´t like it. It´s not orky to load our ferocious boyz and then NOT speed it toward the enemy but rather lurk about in front of da foot sloggers..
Rather get a trukk with slugga boyz and speed it toward the enemy and try to tie up or kill the enemies shooting at your foot sloggers. And increase the size of your foot mobs for the rest of the points.

Every cheap/fast ork vechile is gonna be pretty soft. AV 10 means a S4 is glance friendly. I've never had one last more than one (two if I'm lucky) rounds once it breaks cover and starts taking fire. Even if you kareen a trukk right into them there's gonna be a pinning test that may leave you as meat. I've found that giving your opponent something they're immediately more afraid of than the boyz is key to getting them across the board.
