Ok, new to orks and still play nids. Whats the big thing I need to look for? Are shootas assault or rapid fire cause I kinda like shootas, even if most dont hit, its still funny to have so many and they still have 2 attacks. Are they still a good idea to have (of course supported by other things) What is the big bad unit that saves me?
Nids 2500pts and Breeding!
Getting the codex would answer on your shoota question. Orks don't have any unnaturally big units BUT you can have alot of boys!
Regardless of whether you're fighting Nids, Marines, Tau, Eldar or whoever, the one thing that's mandatory for any ork army that wants to be successful, is power klaws.
In every team of boyz, whether they're in trukks, or in massive mobs of 30, you need a nob in the group, with a power klaw (the new ork boyz sets come with the parts to make the 1 nob for every 10 boyz, so don't worry about the parts). This powerklaw literally allows that team of boyz to hurt ANYTHING, even tanks. On the charge, your nob is going to make 5 attack, with strength 9, at initiative 1, that will ignore normal armor saves. Even if most of the team got wiped out, those attacks are going to all but ensure that your target is going down with them.
Without powerklaws, those boyz will only be wounding the bigger creatures on 6's, won't be able to damage most vehicles at all, and your opponents will be getting all their armor saves. A team of boyz without a pk nob is like soda without sugar or caffeine. There's just no point.
Your opponent will still be getting their invulnerable saves, but there isn't much that can be done about that. Just keep the pressure on them and force them to make those invulnerable saves. They will eventually crack.
If someone tells you that shoota boy mobz can't take powerklaws, they are mistaken, as nothing in the rules says that, and example lists have been released by GW and White Dwarf that include mobz of shoota boyz with PK nobz.
If someone tells you that big choppas are better, not only are they wrong, but they are actually Marine players using false accounts, attempting to weaken the competition. Crush them in your vice-like mechanical grip. ;Y
