What is the easiest way to take out monstrous creatures using orks? I used lootas and they didn't work so hot.
Powerklaws in large squads. That will work on anything shy of a gargantuan creature, and against gargantuan creatures it's your only option!
Powerclaws can work the best if you make it to CC. If you take a shooty ork army some rokkit spam might also work.
My army consists of 3 footslogging units, 2 trukk units and a dreadnought. I was using 2 small groups of lootas but in the end I was lacking AP. (1000 points)
I was just rolling around a few dice to see what tankbusters can do... theyre amazing. A group of 10 can put out some serious damage to carnifexs and hive tyrants.
And does anyone know when were going to hear the official word on whether shoota squads can have a powerklaw?
There's never been a time when they couldn't have a powerklaw. That was just people being silly on the internet before the codex was released. The codex has several examples where a nob has a powerklaw and the squad has shootas. If you're still worried, call a GW staffer and you'll get the same answer every time.
I have to say that monsterous creatures have been giving me a lot of problems also. AP3 just isnt enough as my local nid players take uberfexes ie maxed out everything. Last time i killed one it was to lots and lots of shoota fire. Just too many saves.
The AP on Kustom Mega Blastas coupled with their significant strength can make them effective at monster hunting.
True but I never took plasma guns when I was a marine player, why would I take one with a 6+ save????
I have considered a burna squad with 3 meks and only 2 burnas for just this task, but the range and shots are a bit prohibitive.
Throw two squads of three kans together with KMBs. That will take care of those weedy Carnies!
