do you think its worth it to throw in the extra $10 to for the destoryer lord or
is a regular lord good?
If you can, get one of each, eventually. Its a good idea to as it means you can vary your playstyle and role of the Lord easier.
Most people start off with a Foor Lord, although recently i am considering using a DLord pretty much whenever i play, even in small games.
As a general advice rule ill say this:
Starting out, if you want to aim for a shooty list, go Foot. Combat list, Destroyer.
As far as it goes most people seem (I might just be generalizing here) to go with a foot lord. Though both are reasonably tough and effective when used correctly. Really depends on what you want your lord to do. Phoenix makes a good point though, destroyer lords are faster and can keep up with Wraiths or scarabs so are more useful in assault. Destroyers can use the support but are well enough alone usually, since the lord's SoL can't match ranges.
Foot lords are better at sticking around with immortals and warriors (though destroyers can do the same thing really, just throwing 30 points extra at it)
If you're worried about money though go ahead and take the foot lord, there are plenty of viable options with it to make up for the lack jetbike rules.
well it depends vilan if you have made your list yet. as Alzer pointed out footlord can be used ass a nice support unit that can give great mobility (veil of Darkness) and survivabilty (resurection Orb). the destroyer lord is really combat orrientated if you put 30 pts in a destroyer body you want to use that mobility where ever you can. that's the mian difference in my experience (have a destroyerlord but I'm getting a footy one really soon, Love flying circus)
I'm not a big fan of the Destroyer Lord. For me he characterises speed and CC and I'm not keen on throwing him into CC.
And over there we have the labyrinth guards.
One always lies, one always tells the truth, and one stabs people who ask tricky questions.
Its all relative.
If you run a warrior/immortal heavy army you'll want a foot lord - he does best in this cse keeping the res orb bubble around a mass of infantry.
A Dlord is good for a destroyer/wraith heavy army that relies on necron speed to get the job done.
As a broad bit of advice - I say a foot lord unless you REALLY want a D lord.
as per the outsider, to be honest, my step son has 2 of each, this allows him to cusomise his army as he feels and clearly he thought it was worth spending the money, although in appoc it becomes very very nasty
Everything you have been told is a lie!
I don't think destroyer lords and foot lords really fulfill the same purpose.
Foot lords are support for the army, give them veil, keep their staff, and use them to protect your army from close combat.
Destroyer lords on the other hand go hunting for enemy units. If your playing with decent terrain you can sneak your d. lord all the way up to their squishy support units and make mince meat out of them. Heck, you can make mincemeat out of some close combat troops too. Surprisingly though D. Lords can take out other units by themselves and really don't need much support besides keeping the really scary close combat units away from them (like the avatar, genestealers, etc. etc.)
Unless you're playing warrior heavy army that needs a lord with an orb, go with the Deceiver. He's really not that much more and a real bargain considering the over-priced cost of a regular lord... and he gives you a lot of special abilities. He also crushes just about anything in assault.
ehm a 300 pt. C'tan that can easily be ignored by any army and drops phase out to very low levels NO THANKS. and it has some nice abilities but still i would prefer a normale lord in any game below 1500 pt. simply because they are a lot beter support for their points
