As the title says: Designing phoenix lords for the later aspects, Warp Spiders and Shining Spears. Yes, we all know the reasoning behind why these two aspects don't have Phoenix lords. This thread is for those hopefulls who wish that GW would bring out some anyway. So let's see what everyone thinks the Phoenix lords should have.
What each Phoenix Lord has is a standard popular set-up of an exarch, a special ability that already exists in the the rulebook, as well as both exarch abilities, and an Item Upgrade.
Jain Zar, she has a special ability that I won't mention here, an Executioner, both exarch powers, and the silent death as well: an upgraded existing exarch weapon.
Asurmen, he has a special ability, Wrist mounted Shuriken catapults (have the same stats as a Pair of Catapults, but allow him to use his hands) and the Sword of Asur, an upgraded existing exarch weapon.
Both these Lords have an extra weapon, but no other Lords do. They do not have extra limbs to carry them.
My opinion for a Warp Spider Phoenix lord is this.
Special Ability: re-roll for second jump, results of second roll must be accepted.
Set up: Spinneret Rifle (to set them apart from standard warp spiders), Spider's Fangs.
Special Item: Spider's Fangs, The Phoenix Lord has extra Powerblades extending from the elbows and knees of his armour, this acts just like normal powerblades but confer upon the Phoenix Lord an additional 2 attacks instead of 1 and the exarch may re-roll any any failed rolls to wound in close combat. (This may be changed to 1 re-roll per phase of combat.)
That's my thoughts. What's everyone elses?

Warp Spider Phoenix Lord Potential Upgrades:
Special Item Option:
Upgrade Power Weapons into either Rending or Poisoned?
Ranged Weapon Option:
Shadow Weaver minus the mortar characteristics of the heavy battery version.
Shining Spear Phoenix Lord:
Skilled Rider Rerolls
Weapon: Nova Lance
Hits like Starlance, but in shooting phase either shots that penetrates several units in one line (think Vibrocannon) for a set distance, or creates a blast template (what is wrong with me and blast templates? I must be overcompensating for my low strength).
Bike: Steed of the Phoenix
Greater assault range for offensive or retreating purposes
Since Wraithlords were supposed to be exceptional champions in life, it makes sense to provide more specialized equipment tailored to their former aspects;
- Former Scorpion in Life: Mandicannons: Shuriken cannons mounted in helmet, extra attacks for having twin chainblades
- Former Banshee in Life: Banshee Wail Mask + Giant Triskele
- Former Fire Dragon in Life: Twin linked fusion guns mounted per wrist
- Former Swooping Hawk in Life: Wings. Twin linked Scatter Lasers per arm
- Former Dark Reaper in Life: A massive reaper launcher at higher strength and produces multiple blast templates. Option to upgrade to twin long ranged D-Cannons
- Former Dire Avenger Life: Same as regular Wraithlord
- Former Shining Spear in Life: Hmmm, we need a heavy grav tank for this...
Personally my take on the 'forgotten' phoenix lords is that they do exsist it's just that the Warp Spider PL is having too much fun bouncing around the warp with relative impunity and no-one can keep up with the Shining Spears PL.
Frivolity aside I think this could work for a Warp Spider Lord.
Dual Spinneret Rifles (think dual deathspinner only better)
Spiders Fang (stolen shamelessly from Shiz but altered, due to copyright ) Grants +2 Attacks instead of the normal +1 and may re-roll a single failed to-hit roll during combat, ignores armour saves.
Withdraw, Surprise Assault, Counter Assault (he has mastered the ability to make short, measured jumps through the warp safely, allowing him and any unit joined to benefit from the Counter Assault USR)
There, that's nutted out off the top of my head - will probably do a more detailed entry for both of them later.
On a side note I am a bit wary about giving them a third power that isn't a USR (seeing as all the other PL's have their third power as a USR)
Dovie'andi se tovya sagain (It's time to roll the dice)- Mattrim Cauthon
My Wraithlord Idea:
Strength: X (Same stats as both Wraithcannon and D-cannon)
Type: Heavy 1 Blast
Special Notes: Due to the immense size of this weapon it requires both arms of even a Wraithlord to wield it. If taken as a weapon the Wraithlord is unable to take a second weapon option.
I don't know why they havn't made something like this before. Wraithguard are armed with Wraithcannons, why can't a Wraithlord be armed with a Wraithlord sized eqivelant?

I think it would be cool if the Warp Spider PL had the extra limbs from his namesake incorporated into his armour, something like that Space Marine techpriest thing with the four mechanical limbs that extend around his body....
Obviously a bit more elegant, possibly just bladed or for grappling surfaces, very spidery....
The reroll warp jump results is good, kinda gives you not only the option to extend the jump distance, but also save the squad from losing any members to the warp...
Looking forward to seeing how this pans out, especially now that I really want to make a multi-limbed WS PL *gets scalpel*
Herald of the Colonel; Festooned with pistols, riddled with vermin, and finger lickin' good...
Shining Spears PL:
Ability- Furious Charge (Hello! this aspect embodies the charge. of course their PL needs this)
Weapon-Spear of Khaine- most powerful of the star lances, hits at str 10 and counts as AP 1.
as a gun, range- 12" AP-2 Str- 10
Wargear- jetbike, skilled rider, withdraw, power weapon.
Tell me what you think.
Now this guy should pretty much embody a spider... So:
Standard Phoenix Lord stats.
Now for the weapon i was thinking something like....
Thats two of his arms
Then the "Spider's Fangs" (thats such a cool name)
This should be +1 Attack Re roll failed wounds, that makes him pretty hard at shooting and combat.
"Spider Strike" Or some such equivalent. He may choose to Withdraw in the turn he charged (after the enemy has attacked). He falls back 3D6" And rallies automatically (taking his squad with him of course).
What ya think? Im thinking 200ish points? (He has all the exarch powers of course).
Just making a General Announcement, and even I'm guilty of this. The special Abilities that phoenix lords have are ones that already exist in the rulebook (with the exception of Asurmen, but an invulnerable save isn't a new rule). You don't have to follow these rules because they crush creativity, but as a guideline would be good. And whoever said poisoned or rending for the Powerblades, that was a great idea too, It goes great with the Spider theme.
My next Ideas for the Warp Spider Exarch (one or the other, he obviously won't be using both):
Special Item 1: Spider's Fang (didn't think it was that great a name)
Has the same stats as Powerblades, but confer +2 attacks to the Lord instead of the usual +1 and count as poisoned weapons.
Special Item 2: Webcaster
This ancient weapon fires a great coiled mass of monomolecular fibres at once that unwind in flight to form a vast spinning web that is so hyper-tensile that it's threads are merely a blur.
Type: Assault 1 Blast, Pinning
Special Ability: Teleport Aid
The Phoenix Lord has great experience in travelling through the Warp and arriving safely on target, even to places he is unable to see himself. Once per battle he, and any Warp Spider Squad he is already attached to (including attached Autarchs), may make an extended jump to any where on the board within 12" of another squad in the same army. This follows the rules for Deepstrike but does not scatter and occurs instantaneously, as if the squad never entered reserve and had merely made an extended jump in their movement phase.
As you can probably see, it borrows extensively from the Strategic Redeployment rule in Apocalypse.

Hahaha, the rending and poisoned blades were my suggestion, but feel free to make use of it. Speaking about poisoned weapons options, I thought that a mandiblaster weapon that has a poison characteristic would be interesting. This would have a 6" range just like 2nd edition rules, but wounds half the time and can be used in shooting in conjunction with the souped up web-weapons you had suggested.
Another ability i thought was "Warpsight" which allows the Lord to detect all invisible/hidden units within 24". I do not know if this ability would be applicable to Striking Scorpions as well.
