Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm looking for ideas on warbuggy, battlewagon and looted wagon conversions that aren't too expensive.
I've seen a thread where a guy made some warbuggies using old style Ork bikes - unfortunately despite the idea having merit they didn't look right for my army as it stands.
I like the value of the Ork Battleforce as you can never have too many Boyz, a trukk is always nice and bikes are probably the only odd bit as I have 6 already but how many do you really need in an army, particularly if you use warbuggies in their 1 man squadrons reducing the fast attack choices u have available?
How have other people managed to convert warbuggies/wagons and the like? If I kept buying battleforces could the trukk and bike parts combined be formed to make several buggies or perhaps a weird looking looted wagon or battlewagon?
So hard to make large Ork lists when everything points wise is cheap!
My Ork opponent uses a lot of plasticard and random sprue bits, guns and wheels, etc from any other GW models. He's created at least one each custom rokkit buggy and scorcha buggy from scratch (at least 50% of it or more out of plasticard). He's currently building a deff kopta using the top part of a sentinel for a cab and plasticard for the rest of it (except the guns, driver w Klaw).
He doesn't really use a design just starts cutting and glueing.

Old Codex 48-20-9 Dark Eldar
New Codex 1-0-0 Dark Eldar
I've started using the wheels from toy cars and plasticard to make my Trukks from ..
So I use the one on the right to make the one of the left ....
Costs about £4 each all told.
Here's 2 scratch built buggies...
One uses the remains of an old style ork trukk.. the other is 100% scratchbuilt (appart from the wheels ofc).
Here's a converted Leman Russ + Plasti-card + Bitz...
Here's a WIP 1/34 scale Panther Tankconverted into a battle fortress. It could also be used as a battle wagon with an 'Ard Case
Finally, here's my latest Leman Russ conversion.. just using the ouside two plates and the wheels/tracks.. It could easily have all been done with plsticard...
If u can scrape up a couple of old stayle rhinos (or even landraiders...) here's wah u could do with them
Its a real shame u can't buy Bitz anymore from GW... but i guess now is the time to start scouring ebay and local flea markets for any bitz bargains...
Finally heres a loony idea I had for some custom warbikes... just building up 2 more.. atm ;p
Hope these help

That is one amusing warbike conversion! Can Orks comprehend gyro physics?
What is this mystical plasticard that everyone uses? Personally I'd rather build stuff out of the GW plastic mould from sprues because otherwise while it is unpainted it will look like a bad kids art project. The leman russes and rhinos/raiders were a point of call I was thinking for battlewagons providing i can find enough Orky bits to customize them. Only got a few spare Trukk parts from making 2 full trukks. Shame those tanks are expensive £ wise!
As for buggies, the old wartrukk was an option if I get desperate, but was wondering if anyone has combined the new trukk/bike bits to make buggies? Because if so I can keep buying battleforces!
Plasticard can be found in bulk in pretty much any hobby or craft store. I buy mine from a company called Plastruct, and so long as you don't go digging for detailed sheets it's pretty cheap. It's really not hard to make it look like something other than a 'little kids art project' by adding bitz from left over kits, I know I've got a ton left over from a battle force, box of boyz, land raider and box of burnas. I wouldn't keep buying battle boxes though, as you'll just end up with a flood of models you don't really need, especially when you can make more out of plasticard than you could by buying a somewhat pricey (for the points) box over and over again. I have noticed on most ork kits recently though that it seems they're really encouraging having you make your own ork stuff out of left over bitz.
Love the Gyro-bikes.. fantastic stuff!
Eldar ~7k, Orks ~11k, Tyranids ~1k5, Space Wolves ~1k
LOVING the gyro-bikes! Reminds me of that... thing that General Grievous attempted to make a getaway on in "Revenge of the Sith." Bad movie, but fun gadgets. I never thought of buying the models to take bikes or warbuggies, but THIS looks like it'd be fun to make! Either that or something like that double-wheeled, missile-toting... thing that the Trade Federation had in "Attack of the Clones."
That was an awesome battlewagon and some amazing looted wagons. My Looted wagon is made of a Razor Back, the 'Ard case rook from the Battlewagon sprue, an a boomgun from brass tubing and green stuff. (But my looted wagon isn't working that well because last game I rolled a 1 for every Don't Press Dat roll). For buggies, just use stuff like bigger Hotwheelz stuff.
Personally, I made warbuggies out of AoBR deffkoptas and the barrels from a terrain set. I snipped off the kopta blades, attached the barrels to the back of the kopta (giving it a 'jet engine' look), and then used green stuff to fill in the gaps and add some flames shooting out of the engine. I'm also going to add a few bits to the front, to give it more of a front bumper.
