I heard that mutable genus aren't allowed in tournaments. Having not bought the codex yet, (or started, really), I want to know if this is true.
Does that mean no winged tyrants in tournies?
Also, what would be a tournament winning fast army list, for each point class? I'm curious to see people's lists and strategies.
Wait... did I confuse biomorphs with mutable genus? At any rate, tell me what's what and who's where.
Uhm...I've never been in a tournament, but if it is in the Codex or Chapter Approved and not listed with a special entry saying that the other player has to agree to letting you play with whatever army you are about to field, then the army is perfectly legal...
"Can you put that in a memo and title it '***** I already know!'"
Church: "Ok, so we're agreed? You first!"
Sarge: "Get on with it, Griff."
Griff: "I'd just like everyone to know: that I suck."
Griff: "And that I'm a girl..."
Church: "What else?"
Griff: "And I like ribbons in my hair, and I want to kiss all the boys."
Sarge: "This has to be the best surrender of all time."
Not letting you mutate in a tournament would take away most of the flexibility wich you need.
It is a good thing about nids, so taking away this would be just like taking away "And they shall know no fear..." or Fleet of foot.
It would be plain stupid.
"I keep the bible in a pool of blood,
so that none of it`s lies can affect me."
Ofcourse mutable genus is allowed in a tournament, the persom said this too you either does not know much about tyranids and doesnt understand the mutable genus rules or is trying to weaken tyranids so that he/she could have an easy victory over you. Mutable genus is a must for tyranids, sure you can field an army just using the army list entries but a mutable genus list gives your army the flexibility to fight any enemy, and hopefully win.
Anyway, good luck in the tourament!

Custom Hive Fleets (Mutants and Mutable Genus) used to be disallowed... In UK Tournaments, possibly Australia as well. As of last year, I believe, even they have allowed Custom Hive Fleets with a certain limitation concerning the Rippers...
For US and most other countries in the world (like my home, Finland), Custom Fleets have always been allowed in Tourneys.
If You feel unsure, just check with the Tournament organizers beforehand.
