Welcome to Librarium Online!
Long time tau player, brand new necro player.
My tau and all wargear are always modeled WYSIWYG.. Just starting necors now, how are things modeled? I can understand an orb or the warscythe but Veil of Darkness.. anybody seriously model that?
I'm actually working on modeling a VOD on one of my lords as we speak!
Basically, I cannibalized a claw from one of my now defunct Tomb Spyders and after removing one of the actual 'claws' in order to make a sort of 'V', I mounted it to my lord's back as a sort of teleporting device. I'm also using various wire and such to simulate forking energy discharges coming from the VOD 'pack' that the lord in question is equipped with.
I'll get some pics up later on...it's still a bit rough, but you'll get the idea when you see it
That sounds cool, but do your opponents actully expect this stuff to be modeled?
There is a new Lord that comes with an orb, but for the old one i just stuck a BB pellet in the Lords open hand for a ResOrb. The Arms of the Destroyer Lord have both a ResOrb and Phylactry modelled onto them.
None of the Cron Wargear needs to follow WYSIWYG though, you dont need to worry too much about it, The abilities are pretty generic. The old Lord comes with a cloak of some sort (VoD). Pain his eyes orange (GoF) Most things are pretty simple to model or imply if you want to.
Cool, i like the look of that. Not so sure about the little spiky bits but the main TS claws on there look cool
