Where is the partical whip measured from? The top, the side, the crystal??
On normal tanks, the range is taken from the end of the barrel. (BGB FAQ, Vehicles, Q#2). Following this ruling, the range would have to be taken from the crystal.
"Tau Commandment #226: Participants who use Velocity Trackers in the Tau Clay Pigeon Tournament will be disqualified"
Id say the edge of the vehicle as im not sure exactly how/if the Crystal is classed as the weapon itsself, or just the thing which activates the Whip.
I've always thought of it as the edge of the vehicle sinc ethere is no actual 'gun' for the particle whip.
Measurements are ALWAYS taken from the hull of a vehicle just like measurements of non-vehicular units are ALWAYS taken from the tip of their base. Read up on it in the rulebook in the shooting section I think...
Not for shooting though, usually measurements are taken from the tip of the weapon.
Actually, I'm pretty sure even for shooting its taken from the vehicle's hull, just like standard figures shooting are always taken from the tip of their base.
No its definitely done from the guns. Otherwise you could just end up with stupidly sized custom builds. I mean you can do that anyway, but the insane size of a whole vehicle will have other advantages too, whereas large guns etc will just be obvious cheating, and promptly snapped off by the opponant
with tanks you measure from the gun itself.. but if you read the monolith details in the codex it doesnt really specify where the particle whip is shot from so you can measure it from anywhere on the tank
Although most people go for the crystal, in DoW this is also shown ast he mnolith fires from the crystal on top.
