    A bit sick and tired....

Hello, I'm just a bit sick and tired of being constantly flamed by my fellow game mates about me playing Necrons. I really find it insulting that when Necrons are called unfair and 'beat everything' cause it's like im being told "oh, you just win cause you have a cheap army and you actually just suck." When I actually have lost just as many times as I've won.

I've also won many games with my nids' and I've played my Eldar friend as Eldar and him Necrons and won cause I know the weaknesses of my own army. Are my lists really that Beardy? I don't tailor my lists, I actually use tactics instead of bashing my way through with force.

It's just a bit discouraging being in such a negative environment, anyone have any advice on what to do apart from to purposefully loose? I'm a modest person I never brag or bloat to anyone and I hate to make someone else upset but I don't like being insulted about things which I think are not true at all.

Quick slap sorts most of these muppets out...

    Either that, or try:
    - Telling them that most real/good gamers dont have any of the same complaints, as they can see how Crons are actually well balanced, and hence find the tactics needed to beat them.

    - Asking them why Crons don't fill the top spots of every single tourney?

    - Another Slap

And if none of the above works, just stand on both their feet and gradually press down with your entire body weight. When they scream you scream twice as loud and then ask them what sex they are.
    That usually shuts idiots up.

Hehe ..... I'll just wait until they get comfortable with my list and then pull out the 15 destroyers and Deceiver.

    steep learning curve

Eldar get tagged with the "broken" line often so I sympathize with you...

However, just come to terms that necrons have many advantages, and gear to cover many of their weaknesses. That means they are easier to "go beardy" with then your average list.

To be honest, while its often misplaced and it always unnecessary to say an army is beardy, necrons are by no means a finesse army. Sorry. A mediocre necron player can beat a good SM player 3 out of 4 times.

It sounds like you do things with friendly sportmanship in mind, and good for you. It stinks that people are rude to you. IMHO its because the 'cron rules are complex and unless you are willing to buy the codex or the 'cron player is a good sportsman and explains how to force phase out and exploit the limitations of WBB it takes a long time to figure all of that out.

I lost big to 'crons the first 4 times I played them. When that happens its hard for someone to be objective about it. It turns out many of those guys either didn't know their own rules or were actively cheating. Once I borrowed a codex and researched and built an anti-cron army and was able to force phase out a couple of times I realized it could be done. However, few other army required that level of effort "to get".

So there it is, no one should be rude to you but 'crons will always get that until they nerf something major or the 40K community at large cracks the code on the complex wargear/WBB/phase out rules.

Well, I would disagree about Necrons being a "easy" army. They require a mathematical balance, it's different than most army (I'm not talking about mathhammer though) Necrons have weaknesses that can't be covered by any unit or wargear.

    1. Even opponents you've never met will know exactly what you will way before the game.
    2. Opponents can phase you out.
    3. Every unit with a WS can sweeping advance.

I'm not complaining about the many disadvantages Necrons have, it's what makes them very balanced. The other armies have just as many weaknesses.

Swap armies with them for a battle and if they don't kick your ass, then you can say "Come on, I thought Necrons were so broken anyone could crush thier opponent with them".

Well I actually DID do that. I swapped armies playing Eldar and him Necrons and phased him out. and when Eldar players and many others are quick to complain about living metal they seem to forget that there is another BASIC transport out there which has the same rule except even better, oh I think I remember the name.... it's called.... the Wave Serpant?!

I find it a bit ironic that a Eldar player considered Necrons easy to go cheesy.

    paper-rock-scissor

gentlemen, I copped to a bias right away.

Eldar have a tough time with 'crons so it is what it is.

However, whatever is said about a falcon is thrice true a monolith, so don't kill the messenger.

I'm trying to be polite, and like I said there is "cheese" common ground between us...I'm just saying that your poor reputation is the from two things: complicated rules and the fact that its easy to exploit them.

My HQ is toughness 3 and my "specialist CC" (scorps) squad is marginally better then a tac squad. What exactly are you complaining about? The fact people don't appreciate the skill it takes to exploit tough-shooty goodness?

Seriously, no offense was meant, all I'm asking is to lay off the martyr routine. If an army (like some chaos variants) gets a "cheese" label 'crons should be proud of it.

Own it. You are bad-asses and it takes skills and time to learn the codex to find your vulnerabilities. Fantastic job finding the race with the fewest errors in balance. I've already copped to bad local experiences so don't mind me.

I'm sure there are fluffy reasons to love 'crons...please take my skepticism as an opportunity to educate because there were a lot of folks out there that didn't suffer from the 'cron introduction. Take it as an opportunity t o teach.

Why exactly is the alleged low mobility a hindrance and how crappy is it when your basic dude can kill a tank?

I'm honestly not be'ing sarcastic I seriously want to know/

    good luck
    Have fun,

    Frank
