Welcome to Librarium Online!
Did a game last night: Necron/Black Templar vs. Ork/Chaos. Got stomped thanks to x2 Lash of Slaanesh and a bunch of raptors (he yanked x2 troops and was assaulted 1st turn).
Anyway, I was just needing a bit of clarification on a couple things.
1: Can we WBB off a sweeping advance (within resorb distance and no pwr weapons were used)
2: On WBB, is it "Same unit type" meaning Necron unit type or actual Warrior, Destroyer, Immortal, etc type?
1) No, never
2) Actual Warrior, Immortal etc as you said.
One note on the Lash (I know that's not your question, but Phoenix covered that). I was appalled the first time I played the Lash/Vindicator set up. It just seemed absolutely broken in that the Prince could move 12" (winged), lash me out of cover, then Vindicate and charge. What I realized, however, is that you really have to be a stickler about measurement on that power. If your opponent wants to move and clump your unit for an ordnance weapon, don't let him move the closest model in the unit and push everything up against it. For instance, if he rolls a 7, letting him move the model nearest to him 7" and clumping the rest might move the farthest models 10-11" if your unit is spread out. He either gets to move the whole unit exactly as is, or he has to move the most distant model first, and clump everything there. Maybe being a stickler only saves you two inches, but maybe that's the difference between being in and out of range.
Yea, fortunately it was just a friendly game and the Chaos guy knew it was real deal "cheese" (hate that word but it actually applies here). I lost around 280ish pts off first turn and really couldn't recover. Even the Chaos player said it was ridiculous and he wouldn't ever be using that again. People and their optimization boards
Im all about just having a friendly game and dont mind losing at all. Fluff makes me happy.
Well WWB is actually measured by models. So if my unit of warriors lost two out of ten the models beside them would probably be within six inchs so they can make it. But if the whole unit was wiped out and unless there MODELS within sixes of the models they cannot make WWB. It's quite a confusing topic thats not covered very well in the codex.
Sweet Mercy! So I picked up my Chaos Codex to read up on the whole "Lash/Vindicator/Assault" tactic. That's ridiculous, it makes me scared to even face Chaos. I'm glad I happened upon this post though, it keeps me aware of things to be on the look-out for in the future. I dunno, I'm not afraid to go up against Tyranids or IG, but Chaos just scares the devil out of me. (pun intended)
My real difficulty with the tactic is that DPs can't be instakilled and if I even get a unit of Destroyers in range to shoot at it, they're in range to by Lashed in return. All I can think to do is set up deep in my Zone to try to avoid a first turn Lash, ignore the DP unless he's completely exposed, and try to kill the Vindicator/Defiler/Fast stuff that will really hurt. It's not the end of the world if his DP is assaulting solo, but you're done if everything else is.
