I heard a rumor that in 5th ed. screening will be introduced again.
Flicking through the DE book and noticed the rules for grotesques. They seem like they would be the ultimate screen. Am I missing something?
I don't think so... from what I understand though with some of the things that I am hearing screening might be working both ways.
But one thing is for sure if screening is a possibility my 30 Grotesques will be seeing more action especially against Tau armies.
How do you mean 'working both ways'?
I think he means by both ways as you can shoot through them, at an opponent or Opponent at you.
Help the kin TAKE your soul, I mean, take your soul...
I play Vassal. I'm in V40K Open Ladder.
I always thought they provided a cover save.
therefore you need str 6 guns to kill a grotesque, however if you shoot pass the grotesques models get 4+ cover save..
been a while since i read the new rules though, perhaps i'm wrong
If you're always worried about crushing the ants beneath you...you won't be able to walk.
Yeah I get a feeling that your opponent won't be able to see through them and likewise you won't be able to see through them unless you are on a hill or above them in a building...
That was what I was getting at rather like in Warhammer...
Last I heard, screening units provided a cover save. It was changed because of overwhelming disapproval of completely blocking LoS.
Anyhoo, all of this is still rumor, but Grotesques make a great screen. All that fancy high Str Fire Warrior firepower still amounts to nothing
although that fancy eldar scatter laser tech makes a mockery of us!
or a tau hammer head dispersed blast...
