Welcome to Librarium Online!
Ok, so I'm at a debate with myself on a conversion possibility. I currently have 2 armies, obviously Orks, though I also have a Sisters of Battle army. With the new Ork Codex my SoBs are on the shelf and likely won't see play for sometime. Niether of my armies is complete in a painting/WYSIWYG sense, though I have 0 SoBs painted and have been solely working on my Orks and getting them completed.
Now, for my SoBs I have 6 tanks, 3 of which are magnetized and can be converted into Rhinos or Immolators. The other 3 tanks are also magnetized and can be converted into Rhinos, Immolators or Exorcists (using the Whirlwind weapon sprue).
Now, where am I going with this and what's my conversion idea? Well I am considering Orkifying the 3 tanks that can be Exorcists and converting them into Boomgun Looted Wagons (with armoured tops). Now, I have a converted Ork Bassie already along with older Rhinos I could use. But my main reason for doing this is for Apocolypse. Since there are no Codex restrictions in Apocalypse I was thinking I could use these 3 tanks as Ork Exorcists (Orkorcists!), but simply using the entry from the Witch Hunter Codex. Wondering how something like that is viewed for Apoc? Obviously someone making 1 army list with SMs and IG is perfectly fine for Fluff. But what about taking a tank from another army, converting it to Orks and using the entry and stats from that other army's Codex?
Well, to be honest, I am against it, although I have to admit I haven't played an Apo game yet. However, from reading the Ork Codex I get the impression that the general idea is to let an Ork General choose from a wide range of vehicles when it comes to tanks, yet not make them too powerful (and thus killing the need of collecting that specific army).
You also need to think about how those wagons are being assembled: they stem from a previous battle where they got damaged, later they have been orkified, and last but not least they are also missing the original well trained crew with some insane Boyz replacements. This is definitely not going to work with the original stats.
I guess the only way this is going to work is by having a tailored campaign that has a really god story for the conversion. ;Y

From my understanding there are no Codex limits in Apoc. So it is perfectly legal for 1 player to make an army list that includes an Ork Bikerboss, Chaos Termies, Tau Broadsides, a Necron Monolith and Tyranid Gaunts. My idea with this is to have a fluff reason why I've included an Exo with my Orcs. And granted I am saying its manned by Orcs, but if I am to take it it is taken with the original statline (i.e. BS 4).
Are these going to be "looted" or "ork-built"? Either way, I think its cool, though Ork-built seems to make more sense fluff-wise as ork-created stuff works well for them and other stuff doesn't.
hey, just thought i would weigh in
yes it is possible to do, and i am for it
no one knows how exorsists work, i think that is a great piece of fluff on the SoB part which is why they are D6 attacks... that to me sounds very orky, if the SoB in a battle go out to flame the crap out of some orks and the veichel was not too damaged, the mekboy puts it back together orky it becomes just like orky technology - either epic fail or KABOOM!
exorcist is very orky-like imperium technology so i say go for it and laugh at your opponents if they cry how against fluff it is which you explain how fluffy it could be
Wash: This landing is gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: [deadpan] Oh God, oh God, we're all going to die?
Perhaps a wierdboy accidently transformed the cockpit (or heck, even the pilots) into an Ork compatible control scheme?
Maybe the Orks got ahold of a Exo production plant, and some mek managed to figure out how to get a few of them up and running, and quickly proceeded to blow the hell out of the factory to demonstrate his success?
Hey looting vehicles is part of what orks do best. Just make sure you make the exorcist look suitably orkified. With orks in apocalypse, almost anything you can think up goes. I've been planning a trio of looted carnifexes for my list so exorcists should really be no problem.

Sounds good! Please post pics! i wanna see what they turn out like
This project is still up in the air as I do plan to eventually pick up my SoB army again, but Orkorcists are extremely tempting I also have a lot on my plate right now to get my Orks up and running with WYSIWYG so this project, if it is done, won't be started for awhile. But if/when it is I'll be sure to post!
Well best of luck on all your projects. the temptation to rip apart old models from another army to bolster your greenskins is a feeling I know fairly well. Just ask my Space wolves what happened to their dreadnought and exterminator. (Now a Mega-Warboss and a battlewagon.)
