Hello, tomorrow I will be facing a dark eldar army, and I am wonder how do Necrons fair against dark eldar? and also I wonder how exactly does the terrorfex work (this is my first time fighting them)
It really depends on your list. We have the hardest time of almost any army at killing your monoliths. Our highest strength weapon is the Dark Lance and since the lance effect doesn't work against monoliths... we're kinda boned there. However, most good DE players will just avoid the monoliths as best as possible and focus on phase out (which is a good idea against necrons in general but that is besides the point). Don't go in to assault with us, ever. Especially with our assault specialists (Wyches, incubi, etc).Your best bet is a range war since we have low armor and low toughness.
If we are running Ravagers (the vehicle with the extra plating and weapons), be careful when deep striking in using the Cloak/veil thing or when coming out of the monolith. Disintegrators set to primary fire will absolutely nuke whatever squad just appeared.
Your only remaining option, however, is to pray to the chaos gods and hope they protect you (Fat chance of that though) =p
EEK.... the player I will be playing against is'nt very experienced and plays normal Eldar for the most part..... we're playing at 2500 so I'm planning on taking 2 monoliths, I'm not a fan of veil of darkness so I won't be wasting points there. But I'm also wondering do I really need too run a res orb, I've done a few runs through the codex in the past and it does'nt look like theres many power weapons.
EDIT will scarabs also be useful or just end up getting wiped out in my assault phase thus buying me no time?

Scarabs are good because they are quick and will be able to get across the table for you quickly. That being said it depends on what you are facing.
Dark Eldar has the potential to dish out a lot of AP2 firepower as well as Incubi power weapons can really waste units of necrons in no time.
I would take res orb if i were you to give you a better chance not to phase out. Beware though there are some ways that Dark eldar can take down monoliths besides dark lances...
In some ways its hard to tell you what to expect I've noticed that of all the different armies in 40k Dark Eldar players have a lot more different builds and styles of play then other lists.
I predict I will be going up against alot of whyches , mandrakes, and talos's.
When I play crons my warriors always seem to get shredded by scarabs. I say take some for the sniper squads. Expect LOTS of power weapons (well, agonisers) and fear disintigrators. The ravagers are going to be your prime target, any DE assault troops will be annihilated by enemy fire so use your monoliths! I find Res Orbs to be VERY frustrating when I play necrons, all my AP2/power weapon goodness gone down the drain. I wouldn't worry about mandrakes, they might keep you busy for a turn or two but they are easy to overwhelm. Taloi are VERY slow and you shouldnt have a bit problem with them, unless he takes portals.
Anyway, good luck!
Kabal of the Twilight Blade - Host of Tecpatl - Salamanders 3rd
due to the fact that your crons are NOT fearless... horrorfex's can stop ANY ranged oposition that may come by pinning your entire army( it what i go for with my whompin 12 raiders...)
so basically your best bet, is to NAIL ravagers... and then Hit the transports next due to the fact you can glance with S:4 weaponry....
Dark EldarW/L/T 3/0/0
Chaos W/L/T 6/0/0
So should I just not even bother with scarabs and just pick up 3 more destroyers? Cause it sounds like if I don't hit him hard 1st and 2nd turn I'm really really screwed.
in my opinion, i see scarabs as obsolete, and if i was DE id be offended if someone threw scarabs at me! lol
but seriusly yes id go with more destroyers!
cause scarabs arent gonna do much but sit their or chase something they wont ever catch...
and first turn is a HUGE factor against DE as it is with everyone else of course)
Dark EldarW/L/T 3/0/0
Chaos W/L/T 6/0/0
So at 2500 points that puts me at
1 lord w/ res orb
3 x 10 immortals
2 x 10 warriors
It looks like if i get first turn I should take the oppertunity to blow some vehicles up with my immortals / destroyers and in the next phases i will probably not be seeing any but downgrades to glancings.
