Right, so, I find that Space Marines (any chapter) are the hardest army to beat, perhaps because they too are a 3+ army AND they are capable of having much more heavy firepower than the Necrons can have. As such, I find myself at a standstill trying to figure out lists that could best handle them.
What sorts of things do you take for shooty and assaulty space marines armies, why do you take them, and what's your overall strategies that you use?
Thanks much, gentlemen.
Heavy Destroyers deny Marines their 3+ save and force terminators to take their invulnerable saves.Originally posted by Timbo@Apr 25 2004, 05:41

Don't forget your own strengths:
WBB rolls. Have Res Orbs to keep your 'get up' checks, even if you've been hit by a lascannon.
Your ability to teleport out of close combat. Teleport out using Veil of Darkness or the Monolith and then blast them as they're left wondering where you went.
Don't count on getting into close combat. As cool as the Warscythe is at ignoring all saves, Pariahs and Necron Lords are just too slow to take on Space Marine HQs and other important targets.
P.S. My opinion may be biased since I play against Blood Angels and Khorne Berserkers on a weekly basis.
And over there we have the labyrinth guards.
One always lies, one always tells the truth, and one stabs people who ask tricky questions.
Wraiths are great at taking on any hth unit that they try to rush you with. Other than that a lot of warriors screening some destroyers and immortals is great to gun down the rest.
don't forget the scarabs, if you find some marines charging you for cc just send in a unit of scarabs and they will probably lock them up for a couple of turns and probably win the fight to.
"I have seen you humans, trying to forge an Empire in the name of a corpse"
The SM have many problems for taking out the lith, so .... take two monolith and manu warriors.
the SM are very cheesy so you must be more chessy than them ....
It´s a joke. I usually use always the same army becuase the balanced armies are more interesting for playing.
