Welcome to Librarium Online!
I've read the draft 5th ed that popped onto the web a few months back, and noticed that all template weapons are going to shoot like ordnance with scattering.
For a brood of Deathspitter-equipped warriors, do you think this will mean they will fire as a barrage, or will we have to resolve the shots one by one?
If the former, this seems to be a potent upgrade for the shooty warrior, particularly since partial hits will count as full effect. A barrage of 9, anyone?
So far, the leaked 5th ed. info seems to indicate that each "blast" fired from a single squad will all work as a barrage, with each template having to touch a side of the original shot.
Also, the range of the scatter is lowered by the firing model's BS, but the central hole of the blast template cannot land on empty space. It seems to balance out, and squads with multiple blast templates are probably going to benefit greatly.
Another thing I am curious about is the possibility of using barbed stranglers for Carnifex's using the shocktroops rule. Because BS may no longer be as helpful these models amy not need enhanced senses. Two or three big-bang-blastmarker weapons would be fun, but I don't know if this is possible.
Well, the leaked notes seem to indicate that you roll 2d6 for scatter on ALL blast weapons and select the higher of the two (1d6 if you remain stationary) and then reduce the amount of scatter by the firerer's BS. So a Sniperfex would likely still benefit from ES since it will still need to shoot with it's VC (MCs can still fire 2 weapons per turn last I heard). But squads of Warriors could likely forego ES since they only need to fire 1 weapon per turn each, and the 1" of scatter difference from ES won't likely make a noticeable difference. I'm not sure how "twin-linked" will work for sqauds firing multiple blasts, since a reroll of the range of all the scatters after the first is irrelevant (since all the blasts after the 1st have to be touching one of the existing blast markers).
Again, this is mostly hearsay and is subject to change, but it seems to be a buff across the board for any unit firing multiple blast/templates since all HITS are determined before any wounds are rolled for, so you can drop 4 flame templates down on a squad of ten, and have EACH template hit ALL TEN before rolls to wound.
i think it means you cant like, not shoot at some dude, you HAVE to still shoot at a squad, you cant aim where nothing is.

Ah right, so you have to AIM the central hole at something.
Fair enough, was getting a bit worried that it meant if the hole didn't land on anyone after scatter the shot was wasted, which would be rediculous.
