Welcome to Librarium Online!
srry if this is already a topic cuz im new to this forum. moving on, i have a friend who plays tau and i cant find a way to beat him. he always finds a way to stop what i do.(ex. i use wraithlords he uses rails, i use tons of guardians he uses ordanance,etc.). If anyone has found a way to beat them plz let me know
Instead of trying one thing, counter him. For example, if he's running Railguns, use Vypers with Starcannons, with or without upgrades. If he's running kroot, run large Guardian Squads, with attached Scatter Lasers.
If you don't know what he's running, bring several threats. For example, bring the Wraithlord, AND the large Guardian squad with attached weapon. Bring the Falcon, AND the Reapers. Try using Wave Serpent rushes, and blitzing his front lines. If you don't have any, (Understandable) then proxy some! Get it?
The moral is whatever he's running, the Eldar have at least one counter for it, probably more.

Wait, you mean that optimism isn't fashionable anymore?!

Soup's up, bitches!

good idea of what he uses.
haha marc, ill use anything...not just that. it doesnt matter what you use, ill stop it! :a

get a seer councell in a serpant with all but 1 warlock with destructor and have forturne and eldrich storm on the seers. have 1 warlock with enhance.
move the 24" max the first turn. if he blows it up then your right in his face. then on yout turn blow the hell out of him and charge.
nce your in combat hes screwed.
And get heaps of starcannons, coz 36" beats 30" firewarriors.
Or heaps of starcannons like i just said and have a seer councell on foot. all with mindwar. Oh and also shadow weavers rock.
Well thats my personall advice. i play this matchup alot so ive done it planty of times
It would be extremely helpful (and make it easier for people to help you) if you put which specific Eldar Craftworld you used in this thread or in your profile. For now I'll assume that it is plain ol' vanilla Eldar and go from there. Also if you know about the approximate points value (ex: 1000 pts.) of the games you usually play in that would help.
Basically though countering doesn't usually work. There are too many unseen variations that can happen that you can't plan for (not to mention the fickle Dice God). If you have a unit of Fire Dragons loaded in a Wave Serpent who are supposed to destroy a specific enemy threat like a Hammerhead I can almost guaruntee you that it won't go according to plan. The enemy tank will set up on the opposite corner of the map, the transport will be shot down before reaching the target, or the Fire Dragons will encounter enemy troops after unloading.
Countering allows your opponent (if he's good) to dictate the game. If he knows that your Fire Dragons are coming for his tank then he can use it to draw them there and have Fire Warrior squad ready to take them out (Elder go down pretty easily to massed fire). But this is just and example.
The glaring weakness of the Tau is CC. You know that and so does he. Your primary objective should be to get a squad "stuck-in" and start hacking. Pretty much anthing of yours (especially with an exarch) will go through almost any Tau unit in CC.
On the other hand you can shoot him up (out-shoot the Tau, scary huh?). Starcannons will go through anything (battle suits, warriors, stealthsuits, kroot, it doesn't matter) and pretty much so will Dark Reapers. If its a matter of range (big map) vs. railguns take a Fire Prism (if you have one). Its cheap, its powerful and it can take out two Broadsides in one shot.
Also if you are able to help with the setup of the terrian try to put more cover in to minimize shooting lanes and help you advance. Basically use your strength against his weaknesses.
ok srry. i am ulthwe eldar and i usually play 1500 point games
