Ok im a total noob and have just bought my first necron models
i wanted to make a question about the destroyers : I read somewhere that one destroyer can make 3 shots ? but the codex states he has an attack ratting of 1 ...so whats the story? 1 shot or 3 shots? and if its 1 shot why the big hype about destroyers why are they so much better than immortals ? (except the big range)
The numbers on the Stat line in the codex is for close combat. The gun he is holding is a heavy 3 (or assault 3) witch means he gets to shoot it 3 times in the shooting phase. No matter how many attacks are on a characters profile they will only ever get to fire their gun once. Each weapon has a different amount of firepower.
The next item I would invest in is a Rulebook, or better yet borrow one from a friend. The next edition of the game will be released soon so I would say save your money.
Attack rating? Whats that? Anyway I think you are confused because Necrons have two types of destroyers. The stats on them are exactly the same. It's their Weapon, Cost and the type of choice that they are thats different.
Destroyers (Fast Attack): 3-5 in a squad, have a Gauss Cannon (3 shots).
Heavy Destroyers (Heavy Support): 1-3 in a squad; have a Heavy Gauss Cannon (1 shot).
Look at the Codex again. Check out the weapons that they are carrying and then look up the weapons stats (also in Codex).
