Welcome to Librarium Online!
Ok, just noticed, a Revenant is more expensive that a Warhound, but a Warhound, with 2 Turbo Lasers is so much better than a Revenant. It has better Armour, Shields, moves fairly quickly, and longer ranged weaponry.
All the Revenant has is a save and the movment rules (that stop you firing the pulsars!)
Why in gods name is the Revenant so expensive compared to the Warhound!?
Because gw loves smurfs in england and their warp infected cousins in the states
"War does not determine who is right - only who is left" Bertrand Russell
We bring only death, and leave only carrion. It is a message even a Human can understand.
It's a save that works against everything, though. Even the mightiest of weaponry can be saved by a Revenant, not so by a Warhound.
Which is where the mobility aspect comes in. You can position yourself better to take less incoming fire. Granted, at the expense of firing your own weapons, but if your guns won't kill everything facing you, you'd probably like to option to move a little more.
While that is very true, if that was the case you would be just as well with a Vampire Hunter.
Im starting to dislike the Revenant quite a bit now, this is rather sad
There's a reason fluff tells us that Eldar flyers are amazing. I'm an unabashed flyer lover/whore, and if I could I'd take my Raven much more often. As it is, it's only a display element, as I don't have the kind of points to play apocalypse. Totally take the Vampire over the Revenant.
So the extra survivability is worth it then? (In your opinion of course)
The main thing that is annoying me is that the extra points you pay for a Revenant over a Vampire grant you on average 1 extra pulsar hit, no extra movement, but the ability to assault. Quite why you would assault with a Revenant unless your weapons got blown off is beyond me.
Then, compared to the warhound, which is cheaper, pretty much the same speed (if your firing), cannot be hurt by things like autocannons, has the same destructive power, and has void shields.
The only justification I would be able to find is that the Holo fields COULD stop a lot of hits, but chances are they wont stop all that many. So yeah I think its the Vampire for me, which is a shame as I do quite like the Revenant, I just love the idea of it, but the Vampire is pretty cool too Maybe I could make a 40k Eldar fleet....
Quite clearly. It's also cheaper, by a decent amount. It still fires all sorts of shots that make your opponent very unhappy. It has the flyer special rules. It's a masterful piece of engineering.
