Welcome to Librarium Online!
hey well i have seen the light, in reguards to the hammer head.
when i first got into tau i thought that the broadsides would be the ***** a decimate all. not so true, lol.
well ya ok so its all about the submunitions, not only can the brosides be insta killed and such and they cant move and shoot, and they will only be a able to kill minimal units.
where the hammerheads have pretty good armor and if u need to kill troops u can bust out the submunitions and decimate. and it can move and shoot so its mobile.
(quick rules question, it syas that the hammer haed isnt ordenence, it just uses the templet for the submunissions, so there for it dosnt scatter correct?, but dose it auto hit like the other ordenence weopons, i was inder the impression that u still have to roll to hit the modesl under the templete, and then roll to wound. is this correct?)
ya so i love the hammerheads, and there almost the same price $$$$$$$ as 1 broad side so its cheaper to play them.
ok now on the the devil fish. whats do u guys think about them?
i havnt used them in many battle yet, but what times i have i have liked them i feel that they could be really useful. u know move u fire warriors fast and stuff.
(quick rules question, can u buy a devilfish with out buying something to put in them? and what do they count towards? do they count towards anything in the force organization chart or can you just buy them. ex lik can i have a army with all 6 of my troops chocies as firwarriors, and also buy 6 devilfish, 1 for each squad?)
well that enough for now, but what are ur guys thoughts and which do u use?
I'm just gonna clear up some of your rules questionsSo, you could transport all 6 of your troop choices in Devilfishes if you wanted (and had the points). How do you count a Devilfish Troop Transport? I've seen people say it's Ok to have as many Devilfishes as they have Troops, but in the Codex, the Devilfish stands under the 'Troop' list. Doesn't this mean that you have to count oneDevilfish as one Troop choice?
It’s a transport option and can only be taken if transporting a squad.
Taken from the Tau FAQ, answered by Pete Haines and Graham McNeil.
As for the Hammerhead submunitions, the way it is worded on page 19 of the Codex leans towards auto-hit.Anyone can feel free to correct me on that one, as I'm not 100% sure on it. I use Broadsides. The Ordnance template is used to determine how many models are hit by the submunition round.
Hammerhead, not only is it decent points wise but you have the option of taking either an ion cannon OR a railgun.
Now not even a Chaos protected daemon is gonna be able to stand up to a railgun that size for long.............

I believe the Rail run works just like a standard heavy weapon. It is not ordinance; it just has the uber cool ability to use the ordinance template.
You must have a unit to attach the devilfish to; there is no way to field them independently.
I love the Hammerhead, Not only does it has great killing potential, but it also has some great armor. They are a must in any of the armies I field.
I also enjoy fielding one or two Devilfish with an ample supply of seeker missiles attached. These vehicles are a nice way to add a psudo heavy weapon to firewarriors.
In conclusion.... TAU vehicles rock.
I'm not sure whether to save up for a hammerhead, or to buy some rail rifle pathfinders, or a broadside, or O'Shovah. Any suggestions?
Ahh dont save up for O'Shovah he completely sucks. he limits your army and he ist that good ne ways. i definatly say to save up for a hammerhead the space marine hunting is so sweet.
so wait, dose anyone know for sure if the hammer head auto hits, or if u have to roll to hit and then to wound(i think the roll to hit and the roll to wound is the correct way.....)?
roll to hit then rool to wound, but for submitions you roll to hit and use the BIG blast marker to cover as many models in the unit. Its like using a plasma cannon but without the great AP (stupid marines) sorry, lost the happy
If you charge a bunker and die, its called being reckless, but if you charge the bunker and win, it's heroic!
ok, but then do u roll to hit for each model under the template, or do u just roll to see if all the units under the template are hit?
No, you place the template, roll to hit (With the template, to see weather it hits or not), and then roll for partials. Then you go onto rolling to wound.
