Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hello everyone. As the post says i'm new to eldar, and plan on making a Ulthwe Craftworld list. I have about 21 guardians, 2 weapong platforms w/ crew for the guardians, 1 warlock, and a support weapon platform (isn't built yet) w/ crew. Anyways i'm looking for some pointers as what else to get. Suggestions and comments are welcomed. I look forward to the challenge of playing as the Eldar. Thanks for checking out the post.
If your focussing more on a Ultwe army, then Guardians, warlocks and farseers are they way to go. Make sure that the guardians are the backbone of the army. A farseer or two for your HQ is a must.
I'd suggest mucking around with some different units before commiting to buying masses of models. You need to take an army that your going to enjoy. If you haven't read it yet the Eldar Tacticas help out alot they are here (1) (New Eldar Tactica) (2) (Jetbikes, Vypers and Walkers – Stratergy and Tactics of the Eldar light vehicle Army) (3). But I'll tell you what I know now.
Most Eldar players (myself excluded) like to field at least one unit of warp spiders, because they are a reliable unit. For more info on them check here
For HtH combat you should probably look at the Harlies. I haven't personally used them, but as far as I understand they are THE HtH eldar unit.
Just remember that when you write your list, every unit has a purpose, and you need to use them for that purpose, otherwise they won't succeed. How many points are you looking at?

Keep in mind the imminent release of 5th edition, that is going to change the eldar drastically. You'll need to take any advice/tactica's you receive about 4th ed with a grain of salt. If you want to know more about it just look around LO for the rumour's thread, it is usually accurate on what 5th edition will bring.
Just as a quick tip to 5th, All our skimmers take a big hit (except vypers), the falcon will die completely but the others will still be playable. Harlequins will no longer be the gods of close combat, but they should still be pretty damn good. They have a long way to fall after all before they become bad.
Ok, so now for some advice. Whilst no longer a seperate army, the Ulthwe is typically the 'heavy weapon/gunline' eldar army. You will almost always max out your heavy support. I personally recommend war walkers but a lot of people prefer wraithlords or a pair of fire prisms.
Make use of them, a lot of them, especially on guardians. Some people prefer shuriken cannons on their guardians, don't. The loss in range really neuters them. Guardians need to be able to focus their fire with other units, as a kind of 'back-up' heavy weapon. Scatter laser means your guardians can always shoot at whatever you need to.
Starcannons are another popular rival to the scatter laser. Don't take them, trust me. Sure they're slightly better against MEQ's but the scatter laser is better against everything else. Remember that includes VEHICLES, a scatter laser has a good chance of popping a rhino or a raider full of soldiers whereas a starcannon sucks for it. Only take a starcannon if you're consistantly losing to 2+ saves.
If you're lacking anti-tank then guardians can carry a missile launcher (better than the lance), however I still say scatter lasers.
The other key unit you will need is a farseer. Guide is a strong power for Ulthwe although there are other setups. Always take a farseer for your 1st HQ slot and decide from there if you want to add an autarch, avatar, phoenix lord or even another farseer.
Hope I helped.
