Scourges of course in 5th editions :D

With the new relentless rule that all jump packs get in the new book, what do you think now about scourges with dark lances?

I thought only the "jet packs" got the relentless rule - "jump packs", I thought, did not.

Someone might want to confirm this - I overlooked it initially as even if they did I still wouldn't use them.

It is confirmed - jump packs also have the relentless rule.

    So what are your thoughts?

Well this means that scourge squads with dark lances might actually be useful, but they are still as fragile as ever and all it takes is for the enemy to shoot a a few HB's at them to kill the units. So i still think snipers squads will be superior, but i will defintely test dark lance scourges a few time first.

It's confirmed... that only "jet packs" confer the Relentless ability, not "jump packs". The one that confirmed this was none other than, myself.

So, unfortunately, Scourges function the same way they do presently... for now.

As for the matter how they function "presently", they function as the Dark Eldars least preferable Heavy Support choice.

Hence the reason that I don’t want to get into 5th Ed rules debates before the book is common knowledge!

We can’t quote the rules and it’s only a few of us that have seen the new rules so there is not a broad enough base of opinions to form a consensus.

    Interesting though.

    It's a long wait till mid-july.

I am still curious if jump packs will get some special rules, it seems that they are a fairly expensive option in some lists.

Really they are only expensive options in old lists. These days jump packs are costed much less so that they fit along side transport costs. A system I feel is fairer. For instance why hellions are so expensive when they have the same/less survivability than wyches is anybodies guess.

The only possibility of them becoming Jet Packs and not Jump Packs as listed in the codex is if they are listed as so in the back of the BRB, although i do not feel they are.

Jump Packs are nigh identical in 5th compared to 4th, very few alterations were made, none of them major or really salient.
