Welcome to Librarium Online!
I know its kind of a silly question, but I have just over 1000 points of ork boyz but only 25 boys in the whole set.
So I was wondering how many ork boyz or seperate squads with their amount should I try and have each game? with the force I have now vs my chaos guys, there isn't enough cheap CC units to really give my chaos guys a hard time.
With the new edition and codex boyz have become more of the backbone of the ork army than ever. In my 1000 point footslogger i'm running 2 mobs of 22 sluggas (with nobs w/ powerclaws) and a mob of 20 hardboyz (also with a nob w/ powerclaw) and that isn't really considered heavy in terms of troops.
Keep in mind when making your list that boyz are good at dealing with pretty much all infantry, and powerclaws are the best ork anti-tank weapon nowadays. So good size mobs of boyz will cover alot of bases. Also keep in mind quantity is way better then quality when it comes to upgrading/choosing units. Be as cheap as you can in order to field the most that you can.
What is dis signature nonsence?! dem stupid human zoggers are always trien to confuze us.
Everything Gathrog said is 100% correct. Boyz are the backbone of virtually any ork army. Even at 1000 points, I'd buy at least one more box of 11 boyz, and run 3 trukks, each with 11 slugga/shoota boyz and 1 nob with a powerklaw and bosspole.
With 25 boyz, there really is only 4 options, and 2 of them probably won't work.
1. The above trukk idea. That can definitely work. I wouldn't use less than 3 trukks though. They're picked off too easily when you only use two.
2. You could run a big mek with either a kustom force field or shokk attack gun, a deff dread (I like using 2 big shootas and grot riggers with them, but they can be used many ways), and 25 boyz on foot, with 2 special weapons, and a nob with a powerklaw and bosspole.
This probably won't work. Even at 1000 points, only having one unit of boyz is generally a bad idead.
3. You could run one unit of regular boyz in a trukk, a warboss with a powerklaw + cybork, and a full unit of 8-10 nobz with 2-3 powerklaws, painboy, cybork, waugghhh banner, bosspole, and a trukk with a ram.
This probably won't work. It lacks overall power, and again, running 2 trukks is really risky.
4. You could use two warbosses both with powerklaws + cybork, and two units of nobz with the setup in #3.
This can work, but again, it's risky. Having only two trukks in the list is very risky, but unlike option #3, it has a good amount of power.
Of course, even the iffy ideas I've listed above might work, depending on what the rest of your army looks like. What else do you have? If it includes deff dreads and kans, option #2 might not be that bad. If you have multiple transports, like looted wagons and battlewagons, then options #3 and 4 would be better, since they can block line of sight to the trukks (or at least obscure them).
So what's the rest of the army look like?
Thanks guys, cos running the list I have now, there just isn't enough cheap boys to swarm my chaos forces, the last game resulting in not a single of the 24 boys reaching my lines, one was forced to fall back off the table, the other was wiped out in one defiler shot.
My army compromises of a looted wagon with boomgun, a dread, a kan, 3 buggies w/skorchas and the rest is mixed troops, MANZ, burna boys, kommandos

Your already throwing to many expensieve toys into a small list., drop the looted wagon and the MAN, that should free up a lot of ponit for a lot of extra boyz.
I'd drop the dread (in 1000 point games, he's alright for 1500), and the burnas (they need a transport in order to be effective.
For 1000 point list, I'd play 2 of the 20-30 boy squads, with the maximum number of special weapons, a nob, powerklaw and bosspole. To go along, I'd play the looted wagon with the boomgun, a killa kan with a kustom mega blasta, 3 rokkit buggies (you don't have to change the weapon, the sets I've seen only come with the one gun to use, to represent whatever you put on them), and a unit of kommandos. For the kommandos, I'd either use 12 w/2 burnas and Snikkrot (13 models total), or 8-12 w/2 rokkits and a nob with a powerklaw and bosspole (9-13 models total).
MANZ? Is that meganobz? If so, drop them. Just like the burnas, they need transports in order to be effective. You could always play the looted boomgun as a regular looted wagon, or battlewagon if the model is big enough (a Leman Russ will do), and then use either the meganobz or burnas. It's up to you.
Also, what are you using for an HQ? Warbosses aren't so good on foot. If you're going with meganobz, you could use one as a warboss with mega armor, cybork and bosspole (which will make the meganobz far more effective), but that'll use up a lot of the list unless you're playing 1500+ points. For 1000 points without transports, I'd play either a warp 'ead, shokk attack gun, or kustom force field.
