I'm finally getting into my Tau Army. It was the army that got my into 40k; however I stupidly changed my army over to Chaos. I never really enjoyed chaos.
Anyways, I opened up my box and I counted the units and I have 12 FWs, 1 Hammerhead, 1 xv8, and 3 xv15. I have not picked up the new codex so I was hoping that someone could explain if there is a difference between the 15s and the 25s?
The XV25 is fat and ugly, the XV15 is not as it is aesthetically pleasing. Otherwise, no difference. But now they do not sell the XV15's in stores and the XV25 is slightly better pricewise.
"Your tongues can't repel flavor of that magnitude!"
I enjoy the 15s. I havn't seen any of the 25s up close, but they uhh *shrug*. Anyways how are the 25s slightly better on price? Cuz of the customization w/ the fusion?
ok, thanks for all the help !
Also (a fluff technecality here), the XV15 cannot take a battle suit support system, this is why (fluff wise) the XV25 was created larger, so as to represent the extra space needed to support a support system. It is also supposed to represent the tau's cloaking technology advancing, as they can now cloak a fatty like the XV25 reliably. Also note that the XV25's have access to a Fusion blaster for every three men in the squad, so a maxed team can have two FB's (not really useful but the option is there). Also they're more deserving of the 3+ armour save, and of battlesuit status. I mean sure the XV15 looks pretty sneaky, but he's really just an extra armoured fire warrior, as opposed to a smaller battlesuit. Personally I think the XV25 is a better representation of the 'stealth suit'. However the XV15's are pretty cool commando like guys, now if only they were in plastic I could make a pretty awesome ethereal bodyguard out of them.....
I hate the X25s, luckily I had a full squad of x15s before they stopped selling them.
They are cooler looking and are easier to hid in terrain. X25 are about as stealthy looking as a Goffik Rok boy

'Dark Angel Green' Dark Elves in need of fluff
Hey, what's wrong with the XV25's!? They're leaps and bounds cooler than the 15's
"Luck often enough, will save a man, if his courage hold".
They are built like a tank for 1.
Katunk katunk katunk
IG 1: 'did you hear that?'
IG 2: 'yeah, but I don't see anything'
Katunk katunk katunk
-enter 'stealth' suit
There is more stealth than sight. Though it does give fluff to the shoot @ them even though can't see them rule.
For the greater good, my will be done!
Tau- 4k~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Tomb Kings- 2.5k
Thousand Sons- 1850 ~~~~~Night Goblins- 900
I personally prefer the XV25's as I think the XV15's look pretty scrawny, and don't really seem like they're wearing the battlesuit that their armor save would imply.
It's a technology-based stealth field, not sneaky ninja skills, that make the stealth suits stealthy. And there is no "Katunk Katunk Katunk" since they are actually flying most of the time, not walking.
