So I recently bought up some of the newer black ork models from whfb and intend to use them as mega nobz. I'm starting by strapping on shootas to their hands. The armor speaks for itself, as it looks heavy as hell and quite bulky. I'm kind of wondering about the powerklaws though. I really like the way the 2 ccws look, great models with alot of variety, and I'd rather keep them then chop them off and try to substitute them with pk's. I'm wondering if ya'll would find that too cheesy. I'm also considering greenstuffing on the "power" bit like most powerweapons have (the little box with the cord and dot thingy connected to the blades). Or just going without. WOuld this be cool? Too lazy? I guess you could say that by having 2 (rather large) ccws on these bulky nobz that it would equal out to pks...
I know it won't fly for wysiwyg, but any personal thoughts or perhaps easy conversion ideas that would help retain the original weapons, which i'd hate to part with?
If you want to do this, I just hope to either give them nice big ork armor boots and lots and lots of gubbins and pistols everywhere.
I've never seen it done and I'm a little pessimistic but we shall see.
Ah, well my plan is to put a shoota on the back of either hand/gauntlet, or perhaps a slugga on the back of one hand and a shoota on the back of the other.
The new black orcs are quite huge and gubbiny as is, and are covered in armor plates from head to toe, including large boots and huge helmets... they easily appear to have a 2+ save. The main problem is attaching powerklaws or skipping it or adding "power weapon" components.
Also, do meganobz use the larger bases? Seems like they should.
That's going to either require a large amount of conversion, or a large stretch of the imagination. Meganobz are BIG. They use the larger terminator bases, and a black ork standing on one of those is going to look like a kid lost in an empty field.
They'd make great 'ard boyz, but meganobz are bigger than terminators, and closer to the size of a killa kan than a regualr ork. Still, if you want to try it, then give it a shot. I'd just add some kind of 'platform' shoes to add some height, some huge arm/shoulder pads, and jagged jaws. The more attachments, the better.
