how many attacks does a flayed one get?

pretty straightforward question. the base profile is 2, but under weapons they have claws. Does this a.) count as two close combat weapons and b.) increase his attacks to 3?

    The same question for wraiths.

oh, and tomb spyders. 3 attacks, two claws, so three or four? and if you upgraded the claw (not that you should) does it still have 2 CC weapons?

Everything has the same number of attacks as it says on their profiles. Flayed ones are just normal warriors with claws instead of guns so have 2 attacks.

This came up before, and went on for quite a while. Some people just cant seem to get their head around the fact that them having Claws (plural) is irrelevant. Just use the base profile values.

It will say in their profile if the number of weapons they have effects their number of attacks.
3 attacks WOULD be nice, so would alot of things though.

eh. They seem kind of useless with 2 attacks.

I wouldn't say that. You make it sound like having two attacks is actually a disadvantage to the flayed one. Consider the other abilities flayed ones have. Move through difficult terrain, infiltrate, WBB, Visage. 2 attacks, combined with those abilities, more then justifies the 18 point cost that flayed ones have, IMO.

yeah but in CC with an MEQ, they need 6 flayed ones to kill one marine

Flayed ones are best used for their tactical advantages, instead of any ability to kill, when facing troops with high armor saves (like MEQs). Use them to bog down devastator squads. Use them for flank attacks. They are not orks, so you cannot overcome MEQs with the shear numbers, but you can use flayed ones to play with your opponent's mind. Also, as long as you keep them away from power weapons, remember it is harder for a space marine to kill a flayed one then it is for a flayed one to kill a space marine.

In 5th edition, since they can't capture anything (scoring with them is not possible). I suppose you could contest, but to me they become even less useful

True, but in 5th, flayed ones will be able to run, so that may make them more dangerous as assault troops (really it comes down to whether added uses are greater or less then the lost uses in 5th).

And also, the loss of the ability to score applies to all elite units, so it isnt a problem that applies to flayed ones alone. I'm used to using lots of warriors, so I guess I never considered flayed ones being used for scoring to begin with, but I can see your point.
