I'm looking to make a unit of flash gitz for my army, but I can't seem to find a set of them on GW, or a conversion pack for that matter. Does anyone have any advice on what to use to build some of the shooty gitz?
just make over the top guns, like a gun with a gigantic barrel, 3 barrels, heaps of extra magazines, and maybe some wires/gubbins to help the transition.
There is some pictures up on I think the brittish gamesworkshop site that would help you out, its all in the ork modeling section I believe.
A friend of mine just glued together whatever he found in his Orkz' bitzbox. I will go all crazy and build my Flash Gitz based on Warbikers' and Whaagh Boss' bitz.

Okay, you start with a regular 'Loota' model...and you're done.
Enjoy using the Lootas. ^_^
Seriously though, I've only known one person who used flash gitz, and as you've found, there is no official model. He used orks in 'eavy armor with a lot of glued on bits, although a loota could also work well, at least for the guns if not the backpacks.
If you've got access to older ork figures, the 'freebootaz' would work really well, they're the ones that look like pirates.

there is an ork nob that comes with a big shoota option that is a good place to start, strap on some extra armor ammo and gear, etc.
