I was just wondering, How cool would it be If i started to mix some SM, IG, and Cron bits into my swarm.
Be able to see things like a gaunt w/ a boltgun....fun....
I hope to model this sometime in the future, so any input would be of a great help.
If you ever played AvP you wuold know what I'm talking about...
I'v plays Avp sweet game so I'll agree with you alien and nids all the way (Y) (Y) ^_^ ^_^ I love smiles.

actually, you should check the fluff - they do strip metals from planets
Minerals, boys'n'girls, minerals... Most of them part of the biomass being devoured.
I highly doubt that Tyranids would try to make the effort to remove the minerals that are part of the rock itself.
However, I do not have enough information to know whether or not the Tyranids would go through that ordeal... After all, there are creatures which dig into the crust of a planet, releasing trapped volcanic gases into the atmosphere to aid in the tyranoforming of a planet.
It could be perfectly feasible for them to have tunneling creatures that bore through the planet, melting any mineral-rich ore they find and "digesting" it.
"The meat things seek to destroy ourselves. They hunt us as we hunt them but they are weak and uncertain. The inferior flesh will be entirely destroyed, all biomatter consumed. Ourselves will fight to the last, all weak flesh must be devoured."
Here's how the fluff in my head works. When I think of Tyranids stripping a planet I see them taking it all, metals, minerals, gasses and elements all alike. Everything can be converted into something given effort. Now, to me fluffwise you could look at their being two possibilities of what actually happens.
Scenario A) Tyranids are all about speed. They are efficient eating machines, they take exactly what they need from a planet, no more no less and quickly move on to devour whats next in their path.
Scenario Waste not want not. Tyranids are highly adaptive horrors of space, the hive mind is calculating and precise. It knows the vastness of the universe and time is not an issue. They will take advantage of all resources and waste nothing.
I like 'B', it gives the hive mind more credit. A truly fearsome race is one that understands that "everything" is food, and more food makes a stronger overall Hive.
I just realized after typing this it wasn't about the original post! :o So, uhm I think a gaunt with a boltgun would be fun too!
Do not meddle in the affairs of Tyranids, for you are crunchy and taste good with everything!
Although the idea of Borg-like Tyranids is interesting, it'd be hard to do and require a lot of extensive converting.
Also, I'm not sure if you were the one who started this as an older topic in the first place, but do some searching, as there is already a thread about this, unless it's too old to be found .
"Can you put that in a memo and title it '***** I already know!'"
Church: "Ok, so we're agreed? You first!"
Sarge: "Get on with it, Griff."
Griff: "I'd just like everyone to know: that I suck."
Griff: "And that I'm a girl..."
Church: "What else?"
Griff: "And I like ribbons in my hair, and I want to kiss all the boys."
Sarge: "This has to be the best surrender of all time."
I personly think that Metalish Gaunts would be cool
i think those gaunts would like that to
cuz if i were a gaunt i would absolutley want a better save
and i wonder i thing more, You guys think
that you can make ( fluffwise i mean, not a playable character)
a Infested Marine thing
that would be kinda cool
like a infested SMurf leading a small hive fleet as its
"Hive tyrant kinda guy"
who would have strong connection with the hive mind
This is how I'm painting my 'Nid army!
Had the idea sometime last year when I started playing again after a long break. It's a hive swarm that has had many encounters with Necron forces and has absorbed a great amount of the Necron's living metal crap into it's genepools. Gameplay wise this will transfer to extended carapace on pretty much every model in the army. Just to give them a bit of flavour.
Ever seen the Hybrid rules?
They do add a layer to your army if you incorperate them properly.
You dont get gaunts with guns, but you get geanstealer brids with HW and other stuff.
In the fluff for my army, the squad of chaos marines I have as nid brids encured the wrath of the gods and were left to the mercy of the Hive fleet they encounted.
Adapting the models was a lot of fun.
